About this listen
When prim and proper enchantress Lady Alexandria attempts to bewitch a magic mirror, she ends up cursed -powerless, penniless, dumped in a strange land, and stuck in the body of an old hag. As if that weren’t bad enough, the mirror gives her two tasks: Curse the prince whose arrogant cruelty she once ignored and find her way home - before the Magic Collectors find her and strip her of her powers forever and before the mysterious woodsman who finds her lost in the forest discovers who she really is. The prince she cursed must learn to love before an enchanted rose dies or he will remain a beast forever. Will her fate also be sealed when the last petal falls?
The Magic Collectors series features stand-alone novels that can be listened to in any order. They are clean fantasy novels with adventure, humor, and romance in E.J. Kitchens’s classic “Jane Austen romance meets fairytale adventure style. The Rose and the Wand would have a PG rating. The Rose and the Wand is the tale of the enchantress from Beauty and the Beast.

Story
The fae snatch humans as playthings to torment. The Primrose steals them back. Vowing that no other family would endure the same fear and pain she felt when her older sister was snatched by the fae, Brigid puts on an empty-headed façade while she rescues humans in the shadowy guise of the Primrose, hero to humans, bane to the fae. Her only regret is that she can’t tell the truth to Munch, the young man in the human realm who she’s trying very hard not to fall in love with.

In 1692, Bridget Bishop was hanged as a witch. Two hundred years later, her legacy lives on in the scions of two very different lines: one dedicated to using their powers to heal and help women in need; the other, determined to grasp power for themselves by whatever means necessary. This clash will play out in the fate of Annis, a young woman in Gilded Age New York who finds herself a pawn in the family struggle for supremacy. She'll need to claim her own power to save herself - and resist succumbing to the darkness that threatens to overcome them all.

Cadence and her sister possess the seeds of glory and ruin—or so their father always insisted. Cadence never understood what he meant until Airlie’s seed of power is activated, turning her into the most powerful mage in generations. Despite knowing it must mean her own dormant seed is much more malevolent, Cadence is swept away to the distant Mage’s Guild in her sister’s wake. She’s used to living in Airlie’s shadow, but she can’t see a place for herself in this new world. Nor can she believe in the apparent interest of the charming Zeke. No one has ever chosen her over her beautiful sister.

Story
If there’s one thing Rosemarie, an aspiring enchantress with budding magical powers, has learned throughout her studies, it's that magic must only be used for good. But when an egocentric prince breaks her sister’s heart, Rosemarie’s only focus is revenge, and what better way to enact it than with a well-chosen curse? A simple incantation is all it takes to transform the arrogant prince's appearance to match the state of his heart. But something goes wrong, causing the spell to affect not only the prince but its caster as well.

Next one please!
I’m obsessed with this series opener and am so excited for the following books in this series! If you like Melanie cellier, than this series is totally for you. I loved that it has all the things we love about our favorite fairy tales, yet is done in such a creative and unique way. It really felt original which is a big thing when there are so many fairytale retelling out there. The characters are well composed and each have unique attributes that are distinctly them. I loved this audiobook and can’t wait to listen to the next one!

SHE BROUGHT THE STORY AND THE CHARACTERS TO LIFE! THE WOODSMAN KIND OF REMINDED ME OF A KING THRUSHBEARD, AND THE BANTER OF THE CHARACTERS WAS AMAZING!!!!
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT STORY ON AUDIO!!!

The B&B retelling that keeps on giving.
The Rose and the Wand, by E.J. Kitchens, works on many different levels.
on the first level it's a beauty and the beast retelling, where you get a look at the village during the Prince's curse.
on another level it's a gender swapped Beauty and the Beast retelling, where the spiteful enchantress is also taught a lesson. But her woodsman beauty is not that well groomed either.
on the last and most delicious level, it acts a as a beauty and the beast sequel with a back to the future like twist.
but wait there's more! through in shady Lord's who steal magical artifacts and enchantments, then you have an exciting adventure that any true Beauty and the Beast fan won't want to miss.
But it still gets better. Narrator Monica Nash delivers a great performance as the vain Alexandria Florizen and she does it all with a British accent. Is that a weird thing to get excited about? I don't care.
