Publisher's summary

Based on years of work in the field with scores of companies, including Bosch, 3M, Schlumberger, and Rio Tinto, The Scrum Fieldbook delivers a hands-on, practical approach to rapidly delivering value for companies and organizations.

Scrum is the secret weapon behind some of today’s most successful companies. Businesses like Google, Facebook, Amazon, and Apple use Scrum to drive incredibly fast innovation, laser focus on customers, and continuous improvement, and to decrease decision times in order to reshape the world.

Scrum is the most utilized Agile framework. In recent years, its use has exploded across the corporate world, far beyond its software and technology roots.

J. J. Sutherland and the team at Scrum Inc. have dramatically improved performance at global banks, utility providers, medical device manufacturers, mining giants, and firms on the cutting edge of genetic science. Scrum has helped companies large and small thrive in the age of disruption.

In Sutherland’s first book, the national best seller Scrum: The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time, coauthored with his father, Jeff, the co-creator of Scrum, he laid out the Scrum framework used by almost all of today’s leading technology companies.

In The Scrum Fieldbook, he draws on his firm’s extensive experience in the field to take leaders, managers, and employees deeper into the specific challenges and new opportunities organizations face in an Agile transformation. He shows how the Scrum framework can be successfully applied to any project in any industry, from automobile manufacturers in the US and Europe to nonprofits in Africa, from home renovation contractors in Minnesota to gas exploration companies in South America, from fighter plane builders in Sweden to US Navy Special Forces teams in regions of the world we can’t mention.

Best book by how to actually do Scrum well

I work on a team that claims to be using Scrum methodology. We are not. This book has pointed out so many ways we can improve. If your team is struggling, this book provides the knowledge on how to improve. It is up to your whole business to follow the advice. Now you can no longer claim to not know what to do. Going forward it is now well and truly your fault if you do not take action.

Great actionable information

Loved the entire book. Great follow up to Scrum, Getting twice done in half the time!

The story and examples were great. the performance was clear, easy to listen, and very inspiring. I beleive in Scrum and this book only served to make me a stranger advocate. I have been applying Scrum in my internal audit practices since 2011. definitely worth listening to. Thanks JJ. well done!

Pretty novel, but not guide

This book is more about story telling rather than a guide. Nice to hear that SCRUM does work though.

Great book

Author is a great reader with phenomenal life experience. Recommend already being familiar with Scrum to listen to this book. Otherwise, you’ll be waiting for him to tell you how to do Scrum, but that’s not the point of this book.

Great listen, great book

This is a well narrated book full of useful data and examples of how Scrum works across industries and can be implemented now. This is something that we are working to use in church leadership as well.

So many great ideas and examples

I could not stop. I was sad that it finished because I was learning so much. Excited to put it into practice. Overly enthused to present it to my team and make it paramount that they also read/listen to this book. This will bring us to the next level.
