Publisher's summary

In this thrilling sequel to The Shroud Conspiracy, a child cloned from the blood on the Shroud of Turin has the potential to save the world - or destroy it for good.

When a fallen angel is mistakenly resurrected from the blood of an evil "Watcher" taken from the Shroud of Turin, the fiend's first gift to the world is an unstoppable plague. Dr. Jon Bondurant, the forensic anthropologist and avowed atheist, joins with devout Domenika Josef to bring another child of the Shroud into the world to save it, this one borne of DNA believed to be that of Jesus Christ. Can this child be the answer to their - and mankind's - prayers?

His parents are uncertain just who the child is or what he will become, but when he starts demonstrating remarkable powers to heal, they begin to understand that whatever he is, he is not of this world. Might he bring miracles to the world when it needs them the most? Or has science given mankind a tool with which it will destroy itself as the tempting power of the Watcher unfolds?

This globe-spanning chase to uncover the truth and stop a pandemic that just may wipe out humanity once and for all is a fast-paced, explosive thriller.

Preposterous but entertaining

Like watch car crash, once you start, you have to see how it will end. Not my favorite read, but better than the first book in the series, and entertaining enough.

John did a wonderful job bringing his characters and subject to the 29th century

One of my new favorites

I read the first book in this series, The Shroud, and just finished this one. I LOVED both. I have always been fascinated by the Book of Revelations, the Second Coming, and holy relics. Unique storyline, a little romance, well-developed characters and the Second Coming . . . This listen had it all. My only complaint is that it ended too soon! I will definitely read more by John Heubusch and I can't say enough about the talented narration of Paul Boehmer!!!

Exciting fiction

A good scientific look at what could happen. We have the tools and the knowledge to accomplish the feat described. But do we really want to go there

Another Narrator May Have Helped

An interesting premise, but the author seemed to lack actual knowledge of the Catholic Church and the narrator made the book sound more like an infomercial than a story about the forces of heaven and hell. The narrator may have been the most distracting part, taking away from a story line that had potential.

“Second Coming” Disappointing

“Shroud Conspiracy” was decent enough despite theological flaws. “Second Coming” was theologically and morally vapid at best, and downright awful at worst. The televangelist style of the supposed grand healing show in St. Peter’s Square was farcical and insulting to the Papacy.
