About this listen

Ireland, AD 671. It is the beginning of the summer season and the Kingdom of Muman is preparing to celebrate the Great Fair of Cashel. It is an extravagant nine days of contests, food, and endless entertainment. Circumstances have led Fidelma and Eadulf far and wide across the kingdom, and they have been absent from the Great Fair for many years. But for once they haven't been called away from Cashel, and are eager to enjoy the festivities - that is, until the last wagon in a group traveling to the fair catches on fire. The driver dies, and it appears that the driver was a woman disguised as a boy, for reasons unknown. Eadulf, upon further inspection, finds an even more disconcerting discovery - a rotting corpse in back of the wagon. Now, with only a week left to the fair, it is up to Fidelma and Eadulf to solve the mystery in time.

Complex with surprises

Peter Tremayne always keeps my attention. His Sister Fidelma stories always have what makes a good mystery great. There are elements of suspense, the story line keeps me guessing, and there are surprises.
I wish the audible version would do a better job of making transitions from one situation to another situation.

I want more!

Love the history & mythology in these books in addition to the mystery & language lessons. Caroline Lennon is an excellent narrator. Wish the rest of the series was on Audible... (yes, that is a not-so-subtle hint/request)

Thank You Peter Tremayne!

I have read every one of the books in this series and love them all. When I finished the last one, I hoped that Peter Tremayne would write another, and was thrilled to find The Second Death on Audible. Thanks to the author and Caroline Lennon for a wonderful story and performance. I will always be a Sister Fidelma fan.

Ancient Ireland

Telling a wonderful mystery, in fact every book that Peter Tremayne has written in this series has been a wonderful mystery. Also incorporating so much of ancient Ireland’s history and the use of the ancient language in so many instances has been absolute pleasure.
The voice of the narrator is also pleasing and has a lovely Irish lilt to it.
