a bit different

the story was a bit different from the other stories this author has written, but it shows what a great grasp the author has on human behavior.

Great book

Loved the story. I felt so bad for Archie. Poor kid. The plot was great. It kept me interested; couldn’t wait to see how everything would play out. Great book.

Entertaining pulp

This story was entertaining enough and the narrator great enough to keep me listening all the way through, but I t was hard to root for an unethical protagonist. Dishonesty and stalker like behavior was the vehicle and the driver for this story to the point of ridiculousness. The boy withstanding, the characters were generally unevolved beings. Though I don’t mean to say all teens are of this ilk, it felt like this book was geared for the emotional maturity of a teenager. Still, it had some redeeming qualities sprinkled in and, as I said, it was entertaining.

Another Great Thriller

K.L. Slater has done it again. She’s written another thriller that “got me.” “The Secret” starts to lead you down one path, but with lots of twists and turns, before you know it, you’re going in a completely different (and surprising!) direction. A fantastic listen that I enthusiastically recommend!

Slow start, but worth it

I found this book a little slow to start, but it was worth hanging in there! I didn’t see the twist coming- the first time or the second time. I definitely recommend it.

I love these original stories

Like Russian dolls, one secret is within another. I did not find out what the big secret was until the end. Masterly written and narrated.

It's okay

I'm starting to see a pattern here. I keep listening to Slater because of the suspense factor. Also, every story seems to have a very interesting character. However, there's almost always an aha moment at the end, with completely implausible bad guys with completely implausible motives. No one ever suspects a thing from the said bad guy(s), and the main character remains completely naive. Then, the story abruptly ends. If you know the pattern and keep this in mind, I guess it's okay.

Good

Very slow to start. Almost quit numerous times At about chapter 13 started to enjoy the story the book tends to be in the present and go back-and-forth into the past so if you don’t like that kind of a straight you will not like this book at all. I think it was a great story once I got into it.

Really

The story was all over the place. I know the author likes to throw twists but please make them make sense.

Intriguing story with a twist

The protagonist in this story is similar to the one in K.L. Slatter's book, Closer, that is, a weak neurotic woman finds strength and courage at the end. Also similar is both women are tormented by another woman. Slatter does a masterful job of building a chaotic plot leading the listener down a certain path only to whip around a corner at the last moment. The performance was excellent even though she pronounces [Vincent] van Gogh as "van Goff".
