Publisher's summary

Here is another never-before-told story of the handsome, mysterious 175-year-old vampire.

While searching for the woman who will replace his long-lost Josette, and thus end the terrible curse upon him, Barnabas meets lovely Clare Duncan. The story, set in 1870, of their romance - and of the terror it brings to the beautiful young noblewoman - is a tale of gothic suspense which will chill and delight the legions of Barnabas Collins fans.

The Secret of Barnabas Collins

I really liked the book. I liked it because it was mainly about Barnabas. I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the TV show Dark Shadows

Awesome

I can get just as caught up in the book as I did in the tv series. Great narrating.

Adventures on Land and Sea

Freed from the constraints of utilizing characters and locations from the DARK SHADOWS universe, Marilyn Ross has created an interesting, somewhat episodic story that takes place in three countries and on the sea. Heroine Lady Claire Duncan pursues Barnabas Collins in hopes of helping him escape his vampire curse. Barnabas is the only member of the Collins family to appear in this story (except for Victoria Winters, who appears in the modern-day wrap-around.) Nathan Forbes, a name familiar to fans of the series, also figures in the story—but this is not the Nathan Forbes seen on the TV show. There are other vampires, spiritualist, and a whole ship’s crew adding to Claire’s adventure. I found this the most enjoyable of the first seven books. Ms.Scott’s narration and vocal characterizations add to the fun.
