About this listen

When county sheriff Cab Johnson gets a hunch, he's learned to trust it, and his hunch tells him Rose Bellingham is in a peck of trouble. Bad enough he's in love with her, bad enough she's already engaged to Jason Thayer. He's got to figure out what she's hiding before he loses her for good. Rose can't stand one more person meddling in her business, even if that person is a handsome, eligible sheriff. She's been controlled for far too long. But since her fiancé's father is both her boss and landlord, she can't dump Jason until she's got somewhere to run. She's found the perfect place: a patch of forest outside town. But with Cab watching her every move, she's hard pressed to finish her hideaway so she can make her escape. Meanwhile, she's not the only one with problems. Can she find a way to help her friends, too? Just when Cab solves one mystery, more pop up. Where does Rose keep disappearing to? What's wrong with Mia Start? Why is Hannah Chatham lying to her fiancé? At least he's let Rose know he's interested. And if he's not mistaken, she's interested, too. Rose's hideaway is perfect, until her friends invade it to escape their own troubles. Can she trust them to keep its whereabouts a secret? Does she want to hide from Cab anymore? Now that Jason's out of the picture, is it safe to follow her heart?

When two unexpected visitors arrive with secrets of their own, Chance Creek must brace for its deadliest night ever. Can Cab figure out the connections between all the mysteries fast enough? Or will Rose and her friends pay the ultimate price?

Love, it's always there hiding in the background.

I loved the story of Cab and Rose. The girl who is trying to make up her only mind and a guy who know what he wants.

An interesting series

Cab is the local sheriff who has always been interested in Rose. The only problem is that Rose is engaged to someone else. Rose knows that she needs to end her engagement, but she's having a hard time dealing with the guilt that she will get from her parents and her fiancée's father.

Cab is very protective of everyone in his life. He tries to help Rose, but he doesn't always do it in the best way. Most of the people in Rose's life want to control her. She assumes Cab does as well. While I do appreciate Rose's need for independence, she takes it a bit too far sometimes. Just because someone wants to help and protect you, it doesn't mean that they want to control you.

I didn't read the previous books in the series, but I was still able to follow along with all of the characters.

Another AMAZING book

Would you consider the audio edition of The Sheriff Catches a Bride to be better than the print version?

Not better but different. I love to listen to a book that has an incredible narrator to an equally wonderful book. If Cora Seton books weren't available on audible, I would still read her books. She is an AMAZING author.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Fila because of the strength she had to over come the adversity she faced.

What about Amy Rubinate’s performance did you like?

She gives the characters such a wonderful personality, just like Cora writes them. Ms. Rubinate is fast becoming on of my favorite narrators.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Chance Creek, The small town you don't want to threaten.

Any additional comments?

YeeHaw I just Love these cowboys of Chance Creek. I haven't read a book by Cora Seton that I haven't LOVED!!

Totally Loved the plot, danger and mystery

I really enjoyed this audio from the romance to the danger the author pulls you in taking you on an adventure you won’t forget for some time. Rose is a wonderful character so full of life but with so many trying to control it she is left with little choice but to let them. That is until the day comes she has had enough which adds to a turn of events that makes her finally lose that tight control she has been holding on to. It leads to a chain reaction that will turn her world upside down. Jason and her must set down and work out their relation which isn’t easy on Cab who has been waiting in the wings for so many years. When a mystery woman comes on the scene leading danger right to their doorstep leaving a town in dismay and people running for their lives.

The narrator was really good the only issue I have with her narration is when she ends a sentence she kind of drags it and I didn’t like the way she said Autumn at first I thought she was saying Adam and was confused if this was male or female. Beside that it was an outstanding listen that held my attention and I didn’t want to put it down. There are no repeating of words, no volume changes and no background noises just a clean, clear listen. Her male and female characters are good, easy to understand and tell who is talking. She gives true emotions to her characters that you can feel what they are feeling. She really gave the audio life through her voice and emotions.

I just loved Cab he is strong and demanding but still very gentle and loving. He loves to take care of people which gets him in trouble with Rose. Jason I didn’t care too much for him at first but once you get to understand him and what he is up to he grows on you. His father humm he had me saying some very nasty words I doubt I could be as nice to him as she was. Rose is a wonderful character and Mia just broke my heart. I felt I knew these ladies and just where they are coming from. I doubt you can listen to this story without some strong feeling and emotions. I really enjoyed getting to know all these characters a few I really liked and some not so much. It is a very emotional listen from many points and I feel you will totally enjoy this as the author pulls you in taking over your mind with many hours of pleasure as the story comes to life with many twists and turns you won’t see coming and a few surprises along the way. I loved the plot, the characters, it was thrilling, with adventure, a few shocks and some thrills. This will be an audio that I will listen too again. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have.

good story, but.....

overall, the story was good. It is very confusing though when the author introduces a third main character that has no relation to the story until the very last chapter. then, she's not even a main character in the next book in the series. I just wish there had been better explanation for the third main character

The Sherif Catches A Bride

What did you love best about The Sheriff Catches a Bride?

The Sheriff! He was the strong, quiet type who went about his business but cared so much about those around him. It was hard to watch him be in love with Rose and see the struggle for him to finally get the girl.

What other book might you compare The Sheriff Catches a Bride to and why?

All the books in this series are the same, just characters and location change. The woman moans and groans the entire book about how strong she is, how she doesn't need a man, wants what she wants and doesn't care who she hurts getting that particular goal.

What about Amy Rubinate’s performance did you like?

She did a very good job with the narration of each different character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not really. It took me a while to get through this one. I get so frustrated with these characters who whine the entire book only to change their mind at the last minute.

Any additional comments?

I don't think it was very realistic that Rose built a tree house in the woods all by herself, having just a bit of help from another woman. Then all of a sudden her other friend built a corral in the same woods. Also Rose just disappeared from all her friends staying in the tree house for days. Didn't these friends wonder where she was? She was in love with Cab but wanted a space to herself. Then when she finally admitted that love and that she wanted to be with him all of a sudden that "being alone" wasn't so important anymore!

Best so far

Reading this series from the beginning, this is the best book so far! Three plot lines twisted together for an unexpected finish. A fun read!
Still not crazy about the narrator. A bit monotone to my mind.
