Where is Lara Mayhew?

Lara, a congressman's media assistant, suddenly quits her job - and disappears on the way to her Washington, DC, apartment.

Novice FBI agent Meg Murray, a childhood friend of Lara's, gets a message from her that same night, a message that says she's disillusioned and "going home." To Richmond, Virginia. Meg discovers that she never got there. And bodies fitting Lara's description are showing up in nearby rivers.... Could she be the victim of a serial killer?

Meg is assigned to work with special agent Matt Bosworth, a hard-nosed pro in the FBI's unit of paranormal investigators - the Krewe of Hunters. They trace the route Meg and Lara took more than once in the past, visiting battlefields and graveyards from Harpers Ferry to Gettysburg. Places where the dead share their secrets with those who can hear.... As Meg and Matt pursue the possibility of a serial killer, they find themselves in the middle of a political conspiracy. Is there a connection? If so, has Lara been silenced for good? And who - besides each other - can they trust?

One of her very best!

I am fond of this author and like the history and plots she carved out in her books. But the dog in this book stold the show! It was so cute. And also did a great job supporting the idea of the civil war remembered as it was a time in history we should all remember. Great book.

Not my favorite.

I love the Krewe of Hunters books, but had some issues with this one. There just seemed too many "duh" moments for FBI agents. Maybe I'm nitpicking, but it bothered me. Not bad overall, just some glitches.

A good book for a movie

I always like it when a book turns out to be better than I thought it would be. This is a fast paced mystery/thriller with good strong characters. The slight paranormal aspect really added a notch up to the story. Good narration.

It's always a struggle when narrators are switched

As others have said, the story was good enough... Actually, compelling. It was fun to hear about the friction between differeing political parties, both present and past. The narrator did well enough - not as many voices, but well enough. Luke Daniels, however, has been the voice(s) of these characters that we've come to know and love. It is always distracting trying to hear the story while adjusting to the new voice. The one thing that bothered me is how the victim was "forgotten" in a way that made me skeptical about her survival. It did come together in the end...

Group of FBI paranormal investigators

The Silenced is Book 15 of the Krewe of Hunters series. The "krewe" consists of FBI agents with paranormal abilities such as communicating with the dead and ESP. I'm NOT a fan of the paranormal but I enjoyed this novel. It is my first novel by Heather Graham. The setting is rather mobile covering Washington DC, Richmond, Gettysburg, and Harper's Ferry, WV.

This is a serial murder mystery with four young women being killed. The book also has political intrigue with a member of the US Congress, and potential presidential candidate, being murdered and a congressional staff member and an FBI agent being kidnapped. There is also the necessary relationship between a new female FBI agent and her male partner.

Narration is superb. I may have to listen to another Heather Graham novel!

Funny thing about politics!

It was interesting story especially how it pertains to politics with everything going on today. Very entertaining and good twist and turns.

Lots of suspense

I have been reading all of the Krewe of Hunter books, and this one has been a favorite. Steeped in the history of Gettysburg this political thriller kept me guessing. I loved it!

Entertaining Series

This series is entertaining. I think she would benefit from a female narrator. The men chosen to narrate all seem to have only one voice acting option for female characters and that's to simper. It's awful. A female narrator typically does male voices a thousand percent better than a male narrator does female voices and she has an abundance of female characters.

I'm also getting tired of the CONSTANT "Robert E Lee was this great man and the greatest general of our nation's history" business. Was he a good general? Probably. That doesn't change the fact that he was willing to draw down on friends and family alike in order to preserve the state's right to OWN OTHER HUMANS AS LIVESTOCK. There are plenty of other dead well known historical ghosts she can have someone see and wax poetic about. Plenty. I get that she addresses the evil of prejudice and hate but I wish she'd stop with the constant Lee praise.

Otherwise, her plots are engaging and worth a listen.
