About this listen

Andrea Smith's sophomore novel has received widespread praise for its small-town appeal.

When Bonnie Wilder's husband, Naz, finds an abandoned baby by the river, she thinks her prayers have been answered. But Naz refuses to raise another man's child.

After Bonnie publicly voices her concern for local mothers unable to raise their newborns, she finds more bundles of joy at her doorstep. Bonnie joins with a group of friends to form a secret network matching the unwanted babies with childless families. Heedless of the sheriff 's warnings, the women proudly continue their blessed work.

Then, 30 years later, one of those babies wants to know about her past - forcing Bonnie to recall the painful choices she made to carry out her mission.

Excellent Book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Enjoyed this book from begining to end. I grew up knowing women like these. It was easy to relate to the personalities and how they felt and their situations. I would welcome more books from Andrea Smith . The narrator Lizan Mitchell made the story come to life..

Shocking End.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Sisterhood of Blackberry Corner to be better than the print version?

I always enjoy the audio better. Especially when the narrator is good and really gets into character.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Thora Dean because she reminds me of someone I know. She is also that friend that you want to have, cause she tells you the truth, but you never want to be on her bad side. Ugh.

Have you listened to any of Lizan Mitchell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Great job. Each characters unique voice is great.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

At the end I was so surprised. I was shocked.

The sisterhool of blackberry Corner

This book is just as interesting from the beginning to the end to see how women can come together to make sure there no more dead babies in there community and the hilarious relationships I was so in this book that I imagine my own self as part of the sisterhood. LoL This story takes back deep to the south were women believed in helping other women and there children. And also it can show you how some men can be as well Lawd this was a good book that I will listen to over and over again and i hope that during some kind of special the we your customers can get some of these novels for lower prices due to the economy and all...

I highly recommend this book for its basic storyline, a bit of mystery, suspense and humor. It was most refreshing and enjoyable in the audible version.

I hear my grandmother's voice in this story.

Where does The Sisterhood of Blackberry Corner rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Near the top. Beverly Jenkins is my favorite author, but this book is ranked up there.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Thora Dean was a real trip. She was a complex character with a simple approach to life.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Handling our own business.
