About this listen

In a “sexy, suspenseful read,” #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts delivers “a slow-burning fuse of a plot that ultimately explodes in a nail-biting conclusion".

Shelby Foxworth lost her husband. Then she lost her illusions....

The man who took her from Tennessee to an exclusive Philadelphia suburb left her in crippling debt. He was an adulterer and a liar, and when Shelby tracks down his safe-deposit box, she finds multiple IDs. The man she loved wasn’t just dead. He never really existed.

Shelby takes her three-year-old daughter and heads south to seek comfort in her hometown, where she meets someone new: Griff Lott, a successful contractor. But her husband had secrets she has yet to discover. Even in this small town, surrounded by loved ones, danger is closer than she knows - and threatens Griff, as well. And an attempted murder is only the beginning...

not really fast enough can predict script etc

more of mushy romance novel. not thriller at all should have looked at genre first. thought it was murder mystery. just love story where everything is perfect

Entertaining

Although the ending is predictable, the characterizations and interactions of people in a rural small town are depicted in an amusing way. Reinforces the value of friendship, loyalty, love and family, as well as the destruction deceit causes.

One of Nora Roberts' most heartwarming tales

This book pulled hard at the heartstrings. The characters were super lovable and use of nicknames and southern vernacular added lots of charm. Setting the book in a small town and with a close knit family helps to make the characters more believable and ultimately people one might like to go spend some free time getting to know on a porch swing or at the local hang out. January LaVoy is an excellent reader and did superbly with her children's voices in this book, elderly folk, down south, up north, female and particularly male parts. The book was a delight.

It was ok

The narrator was very good, but the story was too predictable. One knows almost from the very beginning what happened and how it will end. I probably won't listen to it again.
