The narrator did a good job of this book. It was well written to separate two eras in time and both complimented each other. I think Erica James is one of my new favourite authors - what took me so long? I will also look for the narrator for more listening.

The detail provided on each page made this story easy to picture. I felt as if I were there in the village with the characters. This story was about a young woman and a woman in the sunset years. It helped me to understand my elderly mother's life, her present day trials, and the tribulations as she grows older. It was beautifully written with loving care given to each of the main characters. The only distraction I found was the American accents. Affluent people in the U.S. do not speak as the reader portrayed them and not all of them would have New York accents (even if they come from New York.) Since I am an American, it did bother me but every other word was said by the narrator as I think the author would wish, so I would not want a narrator change. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will look for others by this author and narrator.

Wonderful friendship

Lovely story. I really felt like I knew Clarissa and the narrator was the best I've ever listened to.
