About this listen

The universe is out of sorts. The laws of probability are out of whack. Quantum mechanicals are having a trans-space beer fest. Who to put the universe back together again but Sheldon, an existential detective; a logical falafelist, now a philosophical short-order cook; a paranormal detective known as The Sleeper; a bombshell of a nurse; an obsessive-compulsive waitress; a shape shifter; a whole menagerie of extra-terrestrials, all at a parking lot known as The Speed of Light Garage. Listen to the bureaucrats' theory of creation, a trans-planetary love affair, a two-headed Freudian couch potato! Discover them! in this rollicking novella. Also including cameo appearances by Sartre, Camus, Wittgenstein, Descartes, and an entire menagerie of the philosophically forgotten.

A Sharply Comic Send-Up of Noir Detective Serials

If you want a good old fashioned fun yarn to listen to, I highly recommend George Robert Minkhoff’s Speed of Light Garage. It’s a sharply comic send-up of the noir detective serials with an abundance of plot twists and a wacky, though literate, take on the classic form.

The actors are all first rate, in particular, Jim Frangione as the narrator and lead character. There are a lot of laughs and an appropriately convoluted story arc. Bring it along on a ride to the beach. It’ll make the traffic congestion on the way home a whole lot more bearable.

Wonderful

I just finished the Speed of Light Garage. I’m beginning it again, just for the joy of it.

It is screamingly funny, full of literate and clever punning and a plot that never lets you down. Goerge Minkoff offers us a real treat and Jim Frangione reads this Not So Easy text with verve and intelligence. I recommend it highly.

don't waste your time

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I cannot imagine anyone enjoying it.. I could not complete! And that's unusual for me since I am listening while I ma working and hate to take off my ear phones.

Would you ever listen to anything by George Robert Minkoff again?

No

What didn’t you like about Jim Frangione’s performance?

The voice was awful. I would walk away from someone speaking in that voice. It made it difficult to listen.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not for me.

Any additional comments?

This is the first bad review I have ever given a book in my life. Sorry.
