About this listen

Arlan Weaver had often thought of getting himself a mail-order bride, but now that he had, he wasn't sure the pretty little thing the Ridgley Mail-Order Brides Service sent him was going to be tough enough to handle farm life, let alone his brothers. But Arlan soon found his new little wife was chock full of surprises. In more ways than one.

Samantha Carter had never considered becoming a mail-order bride. She was to marry as soon as she turned 18 and thus be out of her uncle's hair, not to mention his house. But her uncle had other plans and wanted Samantha for himself. When she found out his intentions, she ran to the only mail-order bride service she knew of and begged Mrs. Ridgley to send her somewhere, anywhere that would get her away from her lecherous uncle. And so Mrs. Ridgley sent her to nowhere.

Sweet but crazy

What a crazy family! How would you like to be the only mature, sane person in it?

It had a sweet "getting to know you" part. But lots of interruptions and misunderstandings.

Of course, it all worked out in the end. Interesting twist on getting rid of 2 antagonists.

Narrator was great, as usual. He is wonderful at old women's voices!

A heartwarming mail order bride romance!

Any additional comments?

The Springtime Mail Order Bride continues the journey of many characters that we have come to know in the Holiday Mail Order Bride series. The characters are entertaining and well developed. The story line is fresh and mingles characters from previous books so you feel like the story continues where it left off. The plot moves along at a good pace. This is a sweet and delightful story that will captivate you and keep your attention from the beginning to the end.

Michael Rahhal did a fantastic job on the narration. He really brought the characters to life. He did a great job with the different accents, especially the Irish accent. Sometimes his impersonations made me giggle. I had to laugh every single time he said “uhh huh”. You can hear the passion in his performance with the concise and clear speech while adding depth to the story.

Kit Morgan is one of my favorite authors. I know that when I pick up one of her books that I won’t be disappointed. Even though this is part of a series, each book can be read as a stand-alone. I have read/listened to each book back to back. If you are looking for a good mail order bride series to start, then I recommend to start with the Holiday Mail Order Bride series. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming mail order bride romance.

Simple But Very Entertaining

I enjoyed the portrayal of the characters. It is refreshing that the author leaves the physical relationship to the reader’s imagination. I gave the book four stars because I would have liked to have seen a little more about how the brothers were encouraged to grow up and become responsible adults. And was “Ma” really ill?;

Great series!

Loved it as always! Love the continuation of characters from one book to the other...you feel like you are still connected to them.

Fabulous!

Oh my gosh! I loved this story and as in all of Kit Morgan's fabulous stories, it had all the ingredients to warm my heart! Samantha's father had died when she was ten and already having lost her mother, her uncle became her guardian. He treated her like a slave through the years and was anxious for her to turn 18. He told her he was going to marry her himself and she found a way to make her escape and became a mail order bride.
Arlan lived on a farm with his three brothers and mother and worked really hard. He had seen how his friends had found love with their mail order brides and decided it was time for him to try.
Wow. There is so much humor and the antics of the three younger brothers, plus an interfering woman (who was in the Clear Creek books), plus an outlaw and the terrible uncle, it was a nonstop adventure. But a wonderful love story too and with the voice of Michael Rahhal it was perfect. That man is amazing and as I said before with Kit's writing, it is a perfect combination!!!
