About this listen

The Story of a Soul conveys St. Therese of Lisieux's "Little Way" of spiritual childhood - her "elevator" to Heaven, as she called it. This method was approved by Pope Pius XI as a way for all to grow in holiness through unfailing confidence and childlike delight in God's merciful love.

Again and again in this audiobook, St. Therese shows us how her "Little Way" of love and trust comes straight from Sacred Scripture.

This audiobook belongs in every Catholic home, for Pope St. Pius X called St. Therese of Lisieux the "greatest Saint of modern times".

Food for the soul

A book so exquisite it should be read again and again. Don’t read - contemplate. It never ages.

Well Read

The Saint's innocent thoughts, love of God and of man causes me to ponder, like looking into an beautiful stary sky with the stars representing her profound love. I want to love like she did, but how can I love so purely? Saint Therese's love humbles me.

Wonderful book ruined by narrator

I couldn’t finish the book even though I love the story and St Therese because the narrator has such an insufferable, condescending, contrived intonation. She reads every sentence as if she founds St Therese the most adorable stupid little baby. She (the narrator) seems to be about to burst into laughter with every sentence. EVERY SENTENCE!
While this attitude somewhat could be understandable once or twice, and her “oh how adorable she is haha!” tone would perhaps be somewhat fitting when retelling the events of 5 year old Therese. But she keeps it going through the book. It takes over the whole story.

It also doesn’t even make sense because the book is written in 1st person, so the narrator’s attitude would be that of St Therese. Did she think of herself as the most adorable wonderful thing to ever set foot on planet earth, like the narrator reads it? Definitely not. That’s the point. St Therese had humility and out of that humility grew her love for God. So the narrator is downright disrespectful.
But most of all annoying and impossible to listen to for a whole book.
I will have to find a better recording of this book and try again.

St Therese of Lisieux is an incredible witness to us all

I loved the anecdotes and how she managed to explain how we can be martyrs in love for the glory of Christ. I highly recommend this book to all looking for a way to make their ordinary lives an offering to God

Her love for Christ is contagious

I loved this book. I loved her story. Her little way is so relatable. She is very honest about religious life and even the at times difficult relationships within nuns that make anyone relate. It is possible to work towards sainthood as we all should when we learn that it’s the little things or her little way as she puts it, that will get us closer. I now want to order it in print to highlight all the little nuggets received. I agree with other reviewers, this should be read again and again. The performance was indeed a bit much but it doesn’t ruin the message, it just feels a little odd. It’s read in a tone that seems more appropriate for children.

Beautiful story.

This is a classic book that every Catholic should read. Unfortunately, the narrator over-acted and was overly dramatic which made it difficult to enjoy at times.
