Where did they find the moron who tried to read this book? It was unlistenable.

In addition, there was constant ridiculous background music.

I want my credit back!

Worst Reader Ever

The story was great but the reading was amateurish and the background music was very annoying. I could not finish. This was a sad production of a classic book.

Story is good

Terrible reader, no flow, stumbling often with punctuation , halting , flat butchering the French words over and over again

Terrible

The absolute worst reader I ever heard. So bad I couldn't finish this book.

The worst narrator

I listen to a lot of Audible books, and this is by far the worst Audible production I've encountered. The constant background music drove me insane, the narrator's voice was rough and grating, and his delivery stuttered and halted as he struggled (unsuccessfully) to pronounce foreign names that clearly had not been practiced or edited. It's thievery to charge for this embarrassment.

I’m sure it’s a great story but the narrator is just too bad to finish it.

Couldn’t finish.

I've never experienced listening to such terrible narration as this! The narrator stutters and stammers. It’s like this was his first time through in reading the book. Then there’s the annoying background music that never stops. I couldn’t get through it. I’m going to buy the book and read it myself.

Oh my!!

I stopped halfway through. I knew the story was going to be difficult but read it for an upcoming visit to Pamplona and hoped to be entertained by some stylistic professional storytelling. But the narrator! He stumbled over words, misread some, backtracked for pronunciation, stopped frequently mid sentence and at the ends of pages. Sounded like he did not prepare and was reading cold. Listening was a real chore. Had this been my first Audible purchase I would never have made another.

More setting than rising.

audible usually has quite talented narrators read their stories, which makes sense, considering that their entire business is reading books aloud. so imagine my surprise when the narrator for this novel, is a decrepit old man who can barely get his words out and slurs his sentences frequently. the story is fine, but please, find a new narrator and do a new voice over.

good story, shitty narrator

Incessant background music made this terrible. I hoped it last just the intro but continued.

Good story, terrible, non-stop background music
