About this listen

"You be me.... and I'll be you."

Ellie spent the summer before seventh grade getting dropped by her best friend since forever. Jack spent it training in "The Cage" with his tough-as-nails brothers and hard-to-please dad. By the time middle school starts, they're both ready for a change. And just as Jack's thinking girls have it so easy, Ellie's wishing she could be anyone but herself.

Then, BAM! They swap lives - and bodies!

Now Jack's fending off mean girls at sleepover parties, while Ellie's reigning as The Prince of Thatcher Middle School.

As their crazy weekend races on - and their feelings for each other grow - Ellie and Jack begin to wonder if maybe the best way to learn how to be yourself is to spend a little time being somebody else.

If you could sum up The Swap in three words, what would they be?

Insightful, funny, surprising

What did you like best about this story?

The two main characters learned much about the other and ended up helping each other in unexpected ways. I loved the way snobby Sassy got what was coming to her.

Have you listened to any of Cassandra Morris and Jesse Bernstein ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No - had not but I thought they did a very excellent job in the dramatic voices.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh and Cry.

Very entertaining - clever and funny

So good

I love the book I felt that it didn't have all the annoying cliches that some of these kind of stories have. The ending was very nice. I also liked how it switched characters every chapter you could see it from both perspectives, which is kind of what the book is about.

Great Book

A seriously delightful body swap tale that also ended just how I wanted it to. This was the kind of book that you finish and you just want to spend an hour or so in quiet contemplation, thinking about it and being happy that it came into your life. The audiobook narration was top tier, too. The Swap gets my highest recommendation and will definitely be finding its way into my physical library.

Freaky Fabulous

Being a transgender girl / woman, this book pulls at my heartstrings. Growing up I was addicted to the concept of body swaps. I used to dream of waking up as a girl each night. Of course this is due to suffering a severe case of Gender Dysphoria. Even though this book wasn't written with Transgender people in mind, I think it would be a healthy read for those who are hurting inside.

For 25 years I felt like Ellie stuck in Jacks body, every interaction with fellow guys kept me scratching my head trying to understand guys. Girls always made more sense to me, I could for the most part relate to their daily life struggles.

The best part of the book was the last chapter, one of the happiest endings to a story I have read in a long time.

On a funny note, if I was jack I wouldn't have wanted to switch back. I love being a girl, I wouldn't want to spend another second as a guy.

The best heartwarming story I have ever read
