About this listen

Ernst Grip, of the Swedish security police, has no idea why he's been dispatched to a remote American military base in the Indian Ocean. Met by FBI agent Shauna Friedman, he learns that the US wants him to determine whether a prisoner they're holding is a Swedish citizen. The detainee is a suspect in an Islamist-inspired terror attack in the US. Yet all the evidence points to a cabal of survivors from the devastating 2004 tsunami that struck Thailand: a ruthless American arms dealer, a Czech hit man, a mysterious nurse from Kansas, a heartbreakingly naïve Pakistani - and a Swede. But the prisoner is not the only one harboring dangerous secrets. In a world ruled by fear, mistrust, and deadly betrayal, these unlikely partners must learn to trust one another if they hope to stay alive.

Decent read

Was excited to get this after reading some reviews. Didn't live up to the hype unfortunately. Ending is telegraphed. Still, I'd recommend.

Intricate but Clear

It does it all come together in a beautifully crafted intricate plot. Not so deeply buried is a well intoned moral issue.... Eextraordinary but well drawn characters...

Wanted to Like it!

I tried to listen to this book when I first bought it months ago. I stopped. Then I tried again because the story was really intriguing. I just couldn't get past the narration. The narrator ruined the book for me. He had very little personality and his voice was difficult to listen to. He spoke very softly for every other word which made it hard to get the idea of what the story was about. I think I'll have to get the actual book for this one.

Lost in Translation

Lifeless and confusing. I did get through it but did not understand what was going on from the beginning. Maybe the translation was off. Also it was hard to listen during two long interview sections where the narrator identified each person's name before reading their part.
Getting this book is a mistake

A Page Turning Puzzle

The story is a puzzle where the pieces are carefully drawn together as it proceeds. It is well written and engages the reader throughout. The narration is excellent except where it is some words spoken in accent become difficult to understand.
