About this listen

Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers.

One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he barely knows - a man his mother claimed was dangerous. Uncle Randolph tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.

The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.

When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.

Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die...

Featured Article: Percy Jackson—A Percy Jackson and the Olympians Character Guide

Percy Jackson is the eponymous hero of the best-selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan. He made his debut in The Lightning Thief at just 12 years old, where he discovered the shocking truth about his parentage: He is a demigod, the son of a mortal woman and the god Poseidon. Beyond his own series, he was one of the protagonists in the Heroes of Olympus series and has since appeared in other spin-off novels and series from Riordan.

story is great.... narrator is horrible!!!! I would recommend the book not the actor. This guy does not do Rock Riordan nor this book justice. It was painful to sit through and listen to this. I really so hope they more someone else to do this narration again. Or give me my money back. sorely disappointed in this narration. Especially after they the wonderful narration of the Apollo series

I really enjoyed the story. The narrator didn't quite do it for me. It's not easy to explain but just listen to the sample and you will understand. I would still definitely recommend listening as the story is great!

Great book, not so great narrator

I really like the book, like all of Riordan's, but the narrator wasn't good.

Eh.

Rick writes such great books but they wasted when the readers aren't even subpar. You would figure with all the money he makes on them, he would pay someone who could actually do accents correctly to read them. Christopher's accents horrible.

Good book but...

I had trouble finishing the book because of how bad the narrator is. It took me awhile to get into the story. If they had chosen someone else I feel like I would have been hooked by page 1.

Bad narrator

Great story! Always been a fan of Greek and Nordic mythology. I like how Rick takes some of the great legends and incorporates them with his characters.
I was not a fan of the narrator. He seem to me like he was reading to 2nd grade class of children while showing pictures, placing a mind numbing pause after every word. "The....boy....went....to....the....park."
If the story wasn't as interesting as it was I would have had to stop listening.

Great story! Not so great narrator

I love this book, it's absolutely amazing.
What I really liked about this book is all the characters are so amazing, awesome, and each character has their own unique personality that I want to meet them in person.
My favorite character(s) are/is Blitzen and Hearthstone. They're super loyal to each other and are AWESOME. I LOVE Blitz's fashion hobby a lot! And I think Hearthstone's amazing interaction with all his friends are amazing, and even though his awful childhood because of his deafness, he still doesn't allow that to turn him into a bitter person(elf).
Good Job Rick!!!!

AMAZING

I like how the author changes voices and how he captures character traits to make the voices. Also hope Rick Riordan makes another Kane Chronicles book, been waiting for so long.I like how Rick Riordan mixes sad and funny parts in the story.
