About this listen

Demigods Nico di Angelo and Will Solace must endure the terrors of Tartarus to rescue an old friend in this thrilling adventure co-written by New York Times #1 best-selling author Rick Riordan and award-winning author Mark Oshiro.

Percy Jackson fans, rejoice! Nico and Will have a book of their own!

As the son of Hades, Nico di Angelo has been through so much, from the premature deaths of his mother and sister, to being outed against his will, to losing his friend Jason during the trials of Apollo. But there is a ray of sunshine in his life—literally: his boyfriend, Will Solace, the son of Apollo. Together the two demigods can overcome any obstacle or foe. At least, that's been the case so far . . .

Now Nico is being plagued by a voice calling out to him from Tartarus, the lowest part of the Underworld. He thinks he knows who it is: a reformed Titan named Bob whom Percy and Annabeth had to leave behind when they escaped Hades's realm. Nico's dreams and Rachel Dare's latest prophecy leave little doubt in Nico's mind that Bob is in some kind of trouble. Nico has to go on this quest, whether Mr. D and Chiron like it or not. And of course Will insists on coming with. But can a being made of light survive in the darkest part of the world? And what does the prophecy mean that Nico will have to "leave something of equal value behind?"

Nico will have to face demons both internal and external as his relationship with Will is tested to the core in this standalone adventure featuring two of the most popular characters in the Percy Jackson saga. Great book

An amazing story about love and acceptance! And killing some monsters! It broke my heart, it made me laugh and it was awesome. A.J. Beckles also did an excellent job with the narration! The only complaining I have is that I wish it was longer, but it's good as it is.

Best book of the Percy Jackson world

This is the best book of acceptance and love in the whole Percy series. I wish there was more.

Great continuation and love for LGBT

I loved this book as much as any other from this series! I especially love the LGBT portions told through the boys' perspectives.

Brilliant, healing, heart warming

Growing up a Percy Jackson kid I’ve waited literally years for this book and it did not disappoint. I loved every second. My inner child is happy right now.

Everything just felt off with this one

My biggest complaint with this book is it read like a fan fic, There were aspects of the story that I liked and some I didn’t, but the hardest part to read/listen to were the drastically changed characterizations of loved characters.

Exactly what Solangelo fans needed

This book was exactly what pjo fans needed!! This book had me laughing at me moment, melting under Solangelo cuteness the next, then sobbing on the floor after that. Some parts of the story were a little hard to follow but I think that was more cuz I was doing other things while listening. Still, probably my new favorite book in the Riordanverse!!🖤💛

Desk ex Machina / Gothic romance.

Mostly this book felt like an attempt to put a gothic romance in the Percy Jackson universe. Which would be great if it was done well. However almost every difficulty that the couple face is resolved not so much by their own ingenuity and more by an action from a supernatural entity. The wonderfully accepting nature of everyone toward a couple of queer kids on an adventure was fabulous, I just wish that the author had put more effort into the actual adventure, the characters seem to basically drift through the book without doing much at all.
