About this listen

The Theme is Freedom could have easily been titled "Everything You Were Ever Taught Was Wrong." Author M. Stanton Evans challenges nearly every concept most of us have learned in history classes from elementary school to college.

The Theme is Freedom presents a new reading of the American Revolution, the Declaration of Independence, the constitutional founding, and the religious clauses of the First Amendment. Evans draws the conclusion that our liberties have always been dependent of the religious traditions of the West - directly contrary to accepted theory.

On every salient issue, The Theme is Freedom stands conventional wisdom on its head. It will disturb some, encourage others, inform many, and above all, provide a view of American political history that liberals and conservatives alike will find provocative and surprising.

The progressive narrative of our nations development, politically and historically stand in stark contrast to what the historic documents actually reveal. I am grateful that this book clearly reveals where our ideas of freedom actually came from. M Stanton Evans did a great service in writing this excellent work.

He proves from history that the liberties we have in America come from the ideas of Christianity. This is the best book on the topic that I know of.

Wow. What a book! Evans nailed it!

If you could sum up The Theme Is Freedom in three words, what would they be?

Evans provides an air tight case, what we think we know about our founding - is purely propaganda and based on myth and legend. The truth about the founding is noble and biblical - not an enlightenment sewer like the French or the Russian Revolution's, Mao's China or the NWO.

What does Scott Slocum bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His rendering is good in its inflection and rhythm. His voice is ill matched to the subject matter. His throaty and smoky voice does not match the intellectual foundation of the work. Overall, it was distracting at first, but is still very much worth listening to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking truth about the Founders and the founding of our Constitutional Republic. It may not be too late?

As the author says, most of what you were taught in school is wrong. Written by the victors, the narrative is written by the folks with the money and the power and usually an agenda. Learning the other side of the history you were taught seems dirty and wrong at first but once you begin to see how you were blatantly lied to through school, it ceases to be dirty and wrong but rather a quest to actually understand the history you weren’t taught. This book is an excellent addition to the “opening of your mind” category of books.

Public school indoctrination has failed you

Stanton Evans has written a masterful explanation of the USA’s founding documents. The ideas that our founders described have somehow been either distorted or forgotten. The Theme is Freedom is an antidote for both falsehood and amnesia about America’s founding principles.

Deserves to be read!
