Publisher's summary

The JPS TANAKH: The Jewish Bible, audio version, is a recorded version of the JPS TANAKH, the most widely read English translation of the Hebrew, or Jewish, Bible. Produced and recorded for The Jewish Publication Society (JPS) by The Jewish Braille Institute (JBI), this complete, unabridged audio version of the Torah features over 14 hours of readings by seven narrators. The Torah is the essence of Jewish tradition; it inspires each successive generation. The current JPS translation, based on classical and modern sources, is acclaimed for its fidelity to the ancient Hebrew.

Funding for this recording is made possible through the generosity of Aaron Feingold, M.D., in memory of Esther Feingold, who saw life "with a good eye" (Pirke Avot); Dr. Seymour and June Kessler, in memory of Harry and Rose Kessler, remembered with love; and Norman and Edith Weisfeld, in loving memory of Benjamin and Rose Krumholz, and David Weisfeld.

Wonderful!

Great introduction to the Jewish Bible! The Torah provides a good understanding to the meanings and pronunciations of certain words and names of biblical leaders and historic sites. I'll be reading this quite often. Praise YHWH!

No chapters Not good must do better

When I read the Bible or listen I like to know where I am in the story. This does not have any chapters so you can’t go back and relisten because you never know where your at. Not good!

This is the Torah, not the Tanakh

The title is a little misleading. I got this because I thought it was the full Tanakh, although it does at the bottom say Torah. So I am at fault for not reading its entire title. My other gripe is there's no title to the chapters, they are numbered, not named. So you can't choose to listen to a certain book because they aren't titled. Otherwise, it's an easy listen. There are more than one narrators, but they are all great. Although it's not what I was fully expecting, I am still enjoying it.

In depth Old Testament commandments

There was not much changed from the traditional bible except it offered more commandments given.
