About this listen

"I'm giving you two months to settle down. Find yourself a respectable wife, stop the brawling, and be the man I know you can be. Otherwise, I will tell Darrel to expect a wedding for his daughter."

"And if I refuse to marry Elsie?"

George West's eyes narrowed into tiny slits. "Then you will be written out of my will."

Jesse West is faced with an ultimatum. Unwilling to marry Elsie and steadfast against losing his right to inherit the Circle W, he must think quickly. His best option seems to be sending away for a mail-order bride.

Faith Donovan vowed never to marry. Years of witnessing her parents' abusive marriage soured her against such a union, but when she can't find employment, she answers an advertisement for a mail-order bride and hopes for the best. When she discovers her new husband has a reputation for the very things she feared, her hopes are crushed.

Yet something about Jesse draws Faith to him. Can they look beyond their pasts and forge a future filled with love?

Enjoy the book sweat and endearing story. The Mail order brides had to be very brave to travel so far to marry someone they had never met before dealing with the unknown and what their lives would like. Totally an amazing and fascinating era.

Sweet story. Not realistic. Reminds one of a fairy tale with everyone living happily ever after.

Simplistic and idealized. Teen and young adult.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The story itself has merit. If you like stories of mail order brides this is not a bad story. I might have liked it better if i had read it myself from an actual book. The narrator does not do voices well and he reads emotions into situations where they do not seem to fit. Just not worth the listen.

What didn’t you like about Randy Fuller’s performance?

stilted and emotions of characters did not seem to match the "voice" he was giving them.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

the story was sweet in and of its self. probably better as a read only not a listening book.

Not a great listen..
