Always guessing until the end

Ruth Rendell keeps you guessing until the end. I love the Wexford series. They are all so good

The Veiled One

I liked it very much, but the characters were hard to keep straight sometimes, and it came together too fast at the end to really understand and savor. The reason for the title was gone over too quickly.

Pretty convoluted

Ruth Rendell (Barbara Vine) writes her best in the Wexford series, in my opinion. Davina Porter is a good choice to narrate these books . Somehow, the story and the performance don’t quite score that fifth star. But I’m sure I’ll read or listen to any others I find. I just wish the story line was less cluttered with minor events and characters. Nothing is perfect. And as police procedurals go, these are pretty good.

Ambient background

The ambient noise was a bit annoying. Story ending not really unexpected.
Reader as always very good.
