Publisher's summary

USA Today best-seller Tamara Leigh returns to the medieval Age of Faith series with a romance three years in the making: Sir Durand's tale.

A vexing lady.

Answering her father's summons to return home, Lady Beata Fauvel must evade capture by noblemen who seek to wed a great heiress. But when she falls into the hands of Queen Eleanor of England, she discovers her sovereign has plans of her own for the lady known France over as The Vestal Widow. Now Beata must not only escape the knight entrusted with ensuring she does not wed without permission, but survive a storm-tossed sea and revelation of a long-buried secret that could destroy her family. And what of a heart that wants what it cannot have? Will it only ever beat for the queen's man?

A repentant knight.

For years, Sir Durand Marshal has faithfully served his queen as penance for betrayal of the Wulfrith family. When he rescues a woman pursued by vassals of the French king, he is charged with delivering to England the nearly scandalous lady who has only a name in common with the one he once loved. Though he never expects to feel anything beyond annoyance for the outspoken Lady Beata, he finds himself drawn to yet another woman denied him. Can he fulfill his duty to his liege? Or will he forsake his redemption and forever ruin his reputation - more, the lady's?

A Lovely Continuing Saga

It was great to see Sir Durand come to a good end after his trespass against the Wulfrith family and the moral stain upon his character. Intimates that there is hope, no matter how hopeless a situation appears to be or how far one has fallen. Interesting and sometimes intense plot. Excellent narration. Can't wait until her new book "The Raveling" becomes an audiobook. I am a big fan of her entire medieval series and am presently in the midst of reading her new book. Thanks Ms. Leigh. Keep writing. Your audience loves every moment.

One of the best

This is my favorite, or rather one of my favorites in the Age of Faith series. Though you can read this book as a standalone, it is far more delicious and for more achingly beautiful if you start with book one, The Unveiling and move your way through the series. I think it’s best to understand where Sir Durand came from and all that he has known before you read this book. The Age of Faith series is worth reading over again. And Mary Sarah Agliotta is by far, my favorite narrator!

LOVED this book!

The Age of Faith series is AMAZING and once you get started, you're hooked! Even though I've read all of the books, I love listening to the audiobooks as well. The narrator is wonderful and the storyline will keep you listening until the very last word.

Incredible, amazing & wonderful

This story has it all! Knights, Baron’s, royalty, denial, betrayal & sacrifice. I think Sir Duran is my favorite character out of all the books in this series. He isn’t perfectly charming, or perfectly handsome. He’s a man who cares about paying the price of his actions, repentance and not failing God & those who forgave him. Living up to the high standards of the Wolfren family. His aspirations are only to serve, and deny himself of those things that can ruin his life & others. I wish more men were like him.

Oh Durand

As always, I love any narration by Mary Sarah Agliotta. She has a clear voice and great range. Tamara Leigh is a gifted and skilled writer. Her stories are fascinating, intriguing and romantic. This tale of Sir Durand and Lady Beata is a good one! It needs to be read in order of the series to be fully appreciated.

Great Story of Redemption, Forgiveness and Love

I loved the story of Durand and Beata so very much! What a powerful story of redemption, love, and a selflessness that was expected during the twelfth century.

But it was also a book of angst and trials and fear and even mystery...keeping me wondering about the final outcome. Durand and Beata were definitely unique characters who grew throughout the story and, certainly, grew on me, causing me to fret over their situation.

I also loved all the tie-ins to other favorite characters in this Age of Faith series. Overall this was definitely a 5 Star for me. (And apparently another addition to the series is coming in Spring 2018! Hopefully also available on Audible.)

Good narration as with this entire series.

It was ok.

At first, I couldn't get into the story because of the narrator. She drops the endings of the words or gets quieter at the end. It was hard to understand so I didn't quite get the beginning of the story. I actually started over after about chapter 5. Once I got used to her, it became easier to get into the story. But the book felt long and I kept wondering when it would end. I've read the other books in this series and those were exciting. This one just seemed mediocre and I wouldn't read it again.
