About this listen

The matter is settled: Aisling, a beautiful Gaelic lass living on the rocky coast of Ireland, is betrothed to a disgusting (and disgustingly rich) suitor - and the arranged marriage simply cannot be called off. Until it is...by a horde of Viking raiders led by their fierce leader, Cormac, who sweeps into town and sweeps Aisling off her feet.

Stolen away to a rough Viking settlement in Norway, Aisling will need to use all of her wits and wiles to free herself, protect her friend, save her captor's village - and win his heart in the process. Join Aisling for the adventure of a lifetime in a tale that is by turns funny, romantic, and filled with exciting detail from the Age of the Vikings!

Entertaining!

This book for me was an unexpected surprise. The Viking era is not one I look to listen to, but this one has an interesting story, and the narration by Luke Daniels is nothing short of amazing. The story is about Aisling, who on her wedding day is kidnapped and taken as a slave to a Viking settlement in Norway. Now having to care for Ragnar, the leader of the settlement, Aisling is adjusting to her new life, being watched by the sons of the leader and is attracted to one in particular. But will she be able to choose which one she stays with? Will she ever be set free to go back to Ireland? I loved Aisling, she is such a strong and feisty character. Her inner voice came through advising her which is something I can relate to. The sharp contrast between brothers is glaring, and makes the story that much more interesting. Throw in the humor of Brother Owen and we even have laugh out loud moments. With the visual background of Norway, this is a wonderful telling of the Viking Age with a little romance, a little humor and a lot of suspense!

Luke Daniels truly brings this story to life. He has a plethora of voices, each character easily distinguishable. I love his accents, his ability to voice male and female voices and even carry a tune! The book is a pleasure to listen to.

Good story, Awful accents

The story was catching, and left you wanting more. The narrator's accent was awful. Would have been better with no attempt at accents

Great Story of real life and death actions

Amazing book I have read and listened to on audible. I could not stop listening to the book. I always looked forward to every next chapter. The characters on this book are strong funny and keeps you wanted to keep reading.
As as for the narrator ..what can I say, his voice is addicting and he does such a great low deep scary viking voice when he's playing the male part. great job for choosing this narrator. 10+++++

Great book, horrible voices

Loved the story but it was hard to picture the beautiful heroine when she sounds likeMrs. Doubtfire. Brother Owen sounds like Mr. Crabs

Loved this!

Amazing listen! Amazing story full of action, romance, humor, and an intriguing cast of characters. This story moved at a good pace and all the twists kept me hooked and wanting to listen. I loved Aisling and Cormac, but my favorite character was Father Owen who often provided comic relief. Fantastic performance by the narrator, great accents and unique voices for each character and all delivered with plenty of emotion. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Standalone Story

Standalone Story.

Aisling is preparing for her dreaded wedding by hiding in the cellar, only to be abducted by a band of raiders and taken to their ship. Cormac is the dark, brooding man who saves her from being brutalized, but he still carries her away from her home. Once the boat reaches Norway Aisling is given to the ailing chief of the village as a slave. The chief has three sons who run the village - Cormac the brooding, Trygge the sweet and learned, and Rafn the Evil. If Aisling manages to survive her captors, can she ever become one of them?

If you've been looking for a great story with wonderful ties to Non-Greek/Roman mythology, this is the book for you.

Audio Review:
Luke Daniels embodies the characters he reads. His accents are well-thought-out and distinct.
