About this listen

Her: Just a word, yet one person came to mind.

Morrigan St. Pete.

The woman that’d been hounding my every step since the day she was born. From the moment we first comforted each other in the hospital to the day that I left her to follow her dreams, I knew that she was my one.

Through marriage, divorce, and a prison sentence, I had low expectations when it came to her ever coming around to my way of life. What kind of woman wanted a man that’d been to prison, had a child that disliked him and everything he stood for, and had zero prospects in life?

But then she popped into my life again, and that feeling of suffocation slacked off for the first time since I let her go.

The first time I tried to come back to Aodhan, I found him married with a kid on the way.

The second time I tried, he was heading to jail.

As one would say, the third time is the charm, right? Wrong.

The third time, he was divorced, fresh from prison, had a kid, and was again with his ex-wife.

That was the final nail in my coffin. I decided to give up.

I would do anything and everything I could to avoid him. Hiding wasn’t beneath me.

I only wish he’d stuck with my plan, because the moment he sees me again, it’s like he’s seen the light. Avoiding him is impossible when he goes out of his way to insinuate himself into every aspect of my life.

If only life was as perfect as my dreams.

A heartbreakingly emotional, sweet and enjoyably beautiful second chance romance. I enjoyed going on this ride with Aodhan and Morrigan. I adored that these two had a past, lived life while they were apart but as soon as they came back together it was like nothing ever happened between them. Their deep connection wouldn't allow for them to actually move on with other people, they were truly meant to be together. Good story!

Fun characters. Second chance after missed connections and misunderstandings. Good romance plus entertaining side characters.

Both narrators were new to me and I liked them both.

Overall another win for LLV!

I read the other reviews and wasn’t sure about this book. However, I get all LLV books. Now I don’t understand the complaints. Aodhan was born and raised in Florida. Why would he have an accent? I found the female narrator did a good job with Morrigan. I enjoyed the story.

Lovely story

If you are a fan of Lani Lynn Vale you will not be disappointed. This is a heartwarming story of two people who have faced difficult times and found their way back to each other. Misunderstandings, heartbreak, and violence with an HEA. I did feel the epilogue was rushed but overall a great story!

Loved this story

I was disappointed with this one. I’ve listened to them all but this one just seem to never pick up. It was oh I hate him. Oh she choked her. Oh it’s over. Umm what??

Disappointed

I was so looking forward to this one. He is Irish and has always had an accent till we get his story. So disappointed- as well as disappointed in the whole story ….. super sad cause I am a big fan of her books. Didn’t even finish it.

I tired

I really thought that this series was going to be better. I always liked that the female and male leads are a little flawed, but as someone with MS who actually has some of the symptoms described, it was a little depressing. I really miss the quality and depth of early OG LLV. Because of those early series, ill buy anything LLV writes, but for the love of good bring back that Free Bird, Dixie Warden, Simple Man, and even Battle Crow Energy.

Also, the narration of this series is not good. Either the female isn’t good or the male isn’t good. In this one the female did a good job of sounding like she was constantly exhausted and in pain with a silent illness. Again, as I relate with MS, it made me tense up whenever she narrated, so I guess she actually did an amazing job.

The male narrator on the other hand sounded like he was in his late 60s and not in a Zaddy kind of way, and did this weird thing and made his voice 3 octaves higher when doing other male characters voices. Like, why would Wake, the leader of the MC have a high pitched voice? Where the hell is Mason Llyod and Joe Arden?

Really struggling with this series

Ugh!!! This story wasn't my favorite. I don't know what's up with Lani Lynn, but it's getting exhausting with her main characters having shitty parents and multiple ailments. I couldn't get into this story because I felt I was always waiting for Morrigan to pass out or get hurt. I like that Lani Lynn shows different characters with different diseases and still have some semblance of normalcy, but this was so over the top. It kept me from losing myself in the couple's story and that's what I like to do when listening to these type of books. Also, it didn't help that the female narrator made me want to fall asleep with her narration. Stick with Kendall Taylor for the female characters.
