About this listen

An antique store becomes a place of healing for broken hearts

Welcome to Walnut Creek, Ohio, where Orley and Lois Troyer own an antique store they call “Memory Keepers”. Though knowledgeable in antiques and their repair, their real talent is in mentoring folks who are hurting and don’t even know it.

Enter Jeff, a restaurateur, and Rhonda, a hotel manager, who recently moved to Amish country for the slow pace, but the change of scenery puts even more stress on their already strained marriage. Will an antique sled be the last straw, or will it lead to unexpected revelations and the fulfillment of dreams?

A first time for listening to this author.

It was a bit slow on the start. I did get lost a couple of times as to were the characters were when the switch towns, as the story line changed very quickly in the narration, and I could not adjust it by the speed. That was a challenge. I did have a hard time with the narration. For me the voices didn't work with the characters. But, that is probably a personal preference, it did make it hard a t listen for me. But the story was ok. And I like good endings. Don't know if I will get another by this author if it is the same narrator.

Heart warming

I really liked this story. Just easy to listen to and encouraging. I was t fond of the voice the narrator picked for the main character, but still enjoyed the easy story.

Good but…

This was a good read with a relatable storyline. But, there were to many filler sentences and phrases that just made the characters sound dumb.
It didn’t help that the audio reader made Jeff sound like a whiny idiot and Rhonda like a snot.

The readers annoying performance, I could hardly stand finishing the book😰

The reader makes Rhonda sound like a deep voice unreasonable grouch, while Jeff has a high soft wimpy voice …. Reader gives a boring, slow performance to this story…. I will avoid her readings in the future…

WONDERFUL Story, Frustrating Narrator

This was a truly wonderful storyline. In fact, that is the only reason I didn’t stop the book and return it. The narrator’s voice was very distracting. The voice she assigned to one of the main female characters was especially distracting. She made this young (mid-30’s) character sound old with a gravelly voice. In fact, the voice she assigned to this character’s husband was so gentle that, at time, I almost felt like she should have switched the two. I’m not a fan of this narrator’s overall voice but have listened to previous audio books where I have been able to not be so distracted by her. However, every time the female character “spoke”, I lost focus from sheer annoyance.

Sweet story

I really enjoyed this book. The only thing I didn't like was Rhonda's voice it was lower than Jeff's. She sounded alot older than she was. Rebecca Gallagher is a good narrator and this is the first time I didn't like one of her voices.

Mixed feelings...narration voices were distracting

I have listened to many, many of Wanda's books but it's been a little while. When I started this one, as soon as Rhonda started talking I was taken aback. Rhonda is 35 years old and not some old lady. I'm visualizing her as an old bag instead of younger. Frankly it's the exact same voice as the nosy neighbor across the road in the Robin's Greeting and that series. It was annoying in that book too but the character was different. I listen to my audio books at night on a 30 minute timer as I fall asleep. Sometimes I start the stories up again, but I don't on this one. I'll listen to the samples on the rest of this series and if it's the same narrator, I will pass.

The narrator is awful, just plain awful

This was painful to listen to. The narrator made the lead female, Rhonda, sound like a crotchety, old man and the lead male, Jeff, sound like a woman. The narrator did not read the story in a natural way at all. It just was horrible all around and it completely detracts from the story. I sped the recording up to help with the voices and speed the book along. I will make make certain to stay away from books narrated by Rebecca Gallagher in the future.
