Twists and Turns

it was a little slow getting started but when the plot twist happened I was all in and couldn't stop.

Tragedy upon tragedy

This story dragged on and on. At one point, I looked at how much time was left because I was so weary of it. It started out with a good plot, but there was so much filler in between it got old. And then the author piled on tragedy after tragedy. Too much questioning going on in the minds of the characters. It just gets old. It was a predictable template changing some of the circumstances.

Stena Nielsen is usually one of the better narrators, but this manuscript called for some intense emotions and she’s very flat during these times. I wish she would’ve put more effort into it.

I would like to finish the series, but I’m afraid the other two books would be too similar.

A time to forgive.

I enjoyed the storyline but felt there were too many incidents that struck the family. But worst of all, the culprit was never disclosed and wasn't brought to justice. We were all left hanging as for the who dun it. Glad Grace and hubby reunited.

Can't wait to listen to the other two.

This is the first time I have listened to a book by this author. I couldn't wait to get back into my car to listen to this book. I make a living by driving and I listened to audio books. I really enjoyed it. To me there was never a dull or slow moment in this book.

Great story!

A Sister's Secret kept me captivated from the beginning right to the last second! Great plot and storyline. I did feel it ended rather quickly and the main problem was resolved within the last 3 minutes.

The narrator did an excellent job! Only issue I had was the chapters are not lined up properly. There are over 40 chapters but only 18 show up in the chapters section. So multiple chapters take place for each section...which made it hard for me to find my place when I fell asleep one night and needed to figure out where I left off the night before.

Unending misery

Most who read this genre are looking for relatively light, heart warming reading. This is 9 hours of compounding atrocities against an Amish family - to include but not limited to a brick through the window, the sadistic murder of a mouse and puppy, burglary and ransacking of home and shop 5 times, seven acts of arson that destroy 5 hives of bees and a family dwelling, and 6 orphaned children weeping next to the grave of their young mother struck by lightning on the way to feeding the chickens!!! For real! Oh, SPOILER ALERT , oops.

But surely the culprit is caught, divine justice intervenes so you put the book down and know the Hostetler family will be ok… nope, absolutely not. None whatsoever! Seriously!

If you want a well written modern primer on the Amish book of Anabaptist martyrs - here you go.
