About this listen

Following in the apocalyptic visions of Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelation, The War Scroll reveals the conflict between good and evil in the final days of mankind. Popularly known as "The War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of Darkness", The War Scroll is one of the seven original Dead Sea Scrolls discovered in Qumran in 1947 and holds the Qumran library designator of "1QM", meaning it was produced from the dig of cave one.

The War Scroll is a very important piece of literature in our understanding of the concepts of divine justice and retribution held by the Jewish community of the Essenes and the Qumran Community in the time of Jewish persecution by Rome.

The scroll reflects a belief that in the end times, evil would be eradicated by the Power of God and his Sons of Light.

The Qumran community saw itself as a righteous light in the world, solidly on the side of good. As God’s army, they would fight evil in the world, and with God's help, through his agent, Michael the Archangel, they would win the battle against the Sons of Darkness and bring back righteousness and peace.

The text is replete with parallel biblical and apocryphal verses, commentary, and references to numerical symbolism, all intended to lead the listener into an appreciation and understanding of the text.

good book with good info

another very informative book by the author and I appreciate the efforts. if there were any drawbacks to listening to this audiobook is to me, the narrator of the book. His monotone voice and the reading of the phrase "Codex Corrupted" is very distracting away from the text he is also reading flatly. At the very beginning it is said to us that when there is part of the writing (Codex) that was lost or unreadable, the narrator would pause in silence to let the listener know that is what happened but instead, each time, and there are a good amount (but not as bad as the last one on the Book of Enoch. I couldn't even finish it the narrator said "Codex corrupted" so many times. I lost track of what the message was too often to keep listening).. I almost put this off like that one too but it wasn't half as bad. I was traumatized from the narrator last time.
I hope this does NOT prevent anyone from getting this book because it IS a good book. I learned a LOT of the Army of God and it did make me feel a heck of a lot better with that too. I am a "numbers guy" and this book gave me exactly that. The numbers and sizes I have been wondering about most of my life.

Great book but an awful narrator.

I loved the book but this narrator needs to find another profession. I listen to quite a lot of audio books and his performance is the worst ive heard. It was literally painful to listen too

Oh how I wish there was another option

I don’t like to write negative reviews but I don’t want you to get this one and have to return it like I did. I tried, but his monotone reading style was just too distracting for me. Hope they put out more readers for the lost books of the Bible besides this guy who is on most of them. I did, however find an excellent reader for the Book of Jubilees and Enoch. So there are a few out there that are great.
