About this listen

X-Men meets Blake Crouch in the explosive conclusion to Daniel Price’s genre-bending Silvers trilogy about six extraordinary people whose fates become intertwined on an Earth far different from our own...one that is headed for utter destruction.

It's been two years since the world collapsed in a sheet of light, obliterating everything on Earth...but not quite everyone. Saved from the apocalypse by three mysterious beings, sisters Hannah and Amanda Given were marked with silver bracelets, along with four other survivors from their native world, and transported to an entirely different Earth, a place where the fabric of time is manipulated by common household appliances. Afflicted with time-bending powers they never wanted, and on the run from unexpected new enemies, “the Silvers” embarked on a dangerous journey for survival across an alien America—a hunt for answers that bound the group like family while revealing the gravely sinister intentions of their so-called saviors.

But their new Earth is about to suffer the same fate as the old one and the Silvers have only ten weeks to prevent it. Their one hope is to find the remaining survivors of their home world—a quest that will take them from Mexico to England to a radically changed Japan—to gain more allies for the final confrontation with the godlike beings who first brought them to this Earth. Failure will mean death for billions of people. But victory may come at a cost the Silvers can’t afford.

Critic reviews

"The story has plenty to offer in its exciting, exceptionally complicated plot and well-crafted characters."Kirkus

"Daniel Price has done it again in this third installment of the Silvers series. Filled with his trademark action-filled plots, whip-smart dialogue, and an unforgettable cast of characters, The War of the Givens especially stands out with its clever mix of plot twists and emotional gut punches, where relationships between characters matter just as much as saving the alternate world in which they all find themselves. I loved everything about this pitch-perfect conclusion to Price’s groundbreaking sci-fi trilogy."—A. J. Sass, award winning author of Ellen Outside the Lines and Ana on the Edge

“Daniel Price draws his Silvers trilogy to a close with this big, bold, beautiful comic book sci-fi extravaganza that somehow manages to out-Avengers The Avengers. The War of the Givens is a heartfelt epic, mashing together the best elements of genre staples like the X-Men by way of Fringe, with plenty of big-screen action and extraordinarily consequential heroics. I loved it!”—Michael Patrick Hicks, author of the Salem Hawley series and Friday Night Massacre

An Excellent Conclusion to a Fantastic Trilogy

I absolutely loved this series. It is full of science fiction and speculative history, with characters who possess supernatural powers working together against really wretched villains.. At its core though, it is a story of the bonds forged in shared adversity and purpose, and the lengths we will go to for those we love. I re-listened to books one and two before starting book three. ’m so glad Rich Orlow was brought back to narrate this final installment. He did an excellent job bringing the large cast of characters to life. This conclusion was satisfying, hit all the right notes, and was well worth the wait. I know these are a listen I re-visit again. I would heartily recommend the entire series.

Great ending

Most books that I have read end terribly. Enough so that sometimes I loth the thought of reading the last book of a series. This is probably the best wrap up I’ve read in quite awhile.

loved this series

This is one of my favorite series. From the beginning when I got to read the first chapter of The Flight of the Silvers I was enthralled with the story. This book was a sad but amazing conclusion to an amazing series. I'm sad the journey is over but glad I took the trip.

Worth the wait and a worthy end to the trilogy

After waiting many years for this final book, I decided to jump in without re-listening to the previous two books. Fortunately, book 3 provides all the reminders necessary to instantly catch the listener up to the unfolding story. Book 3 is just as solid a story as the first two books, which is a real gift given the last book in most series is at best a 50/50 chance of bombing vs. delivering a solid ending.

The War of the Givens definitely falls in the "nailed it" category with a rich multitude of storylines and a satisfying ending.

BTW - Rich Orlow delivers a 5 star narration throughout the three books. The number of voices (both male and female) delivered is just amazing and compares with the best in the industry (ie. Andrea Parsneua and R.C. Bray). The voices are so distinct and perfectly delivered, I never found myself thinking about the narration and just fell right into the storyline.
