Publisher's summary

From the Report's original 1964 Introduction:

"President Lyndon B. Johnson, by Executive Order No. 11130 dated November 29, 1963, created this Commission to investigate the assassination on November 22, 1963, of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. The President directed the Commission to evaluate all the facts and circumstances surrounding the assassination and the subsequent killing of the alleged assassin and to report its findings and conclusions to him.

"The subject of the Commission's inquiry was a chain of events which saddened and shocked the people of the United States and of the world. The assassination of President Kennedy and the simultaneous wounding of John B. Connally, Jr., Governor of Texas, had been followed within an hour by the slaying of Patrolman J. D. Tippit of the Dallas Police Department. In the United States and abroad, these events evoked universal demands for an explanation....

"With this report the Commission is submitting the complete testimony of all the witnesses who appeared before the Commission or gave sworn depositions or affidavits, the accompanying documentary exhibits, and other investigative materials which are relied upon in this report."

Great Read!

Audible made this an easy read! This is a detailed account of the investigation of the Kennedy assassination. For the conspiracy junkies out there it's always good to get both sides of the argument.

Not what I expected.

This Book was actually far more entertaining to listen to than I thought it would be. Although I'm still left with plenty of questions, I can see that the Warren Commission thoroughly looked into and documented the lives of the main people involved in the assassination. if you have any interest at all in the JFK assassination I suggest you read or listen too this book. I'd also recommend picking up a hard copy of the book to makes notes and view the photo evidence mentioned in the report.

Best place to start to study the assassination

Very good logical analysis of the assassination. It does gloss over some questionable areas of interest but in general is 10x more honest about what really happened than practically any conspiracy book you can pick up.

Truth, lies, deception…

I take this report with a grain of salt. There is much that has come out since this report was given to the public in 1964. Some people swear by this report and some do not. You read it yourself and decide…

The right conclusion.

Would you listen to The Warren Commission Report again? Why?

I would in case I missed some parts of it I thought might be important.

Who was your favorite character and why?

They were all excellent.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The man doing the intro I have, in top form here. The other ones, I hadn't.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I'd already heard versions of the report, so no big reaction really.

Any additional comments?

None.

Started with Steven King

I first read Stephen King's "11•22•63" which prompted me to read The Death of a President and Marina and Lee; both of which I really enjoyed. The Warren Report was a cool added bonus at the end, written then by professionals charged to investigate under every rock. Felt like a time warp back to the 60's more-so than even King's work of fiction.

No matter how much you thought you knew about this topic you will be surprised at what a good read this is

I was concerned that this book would be very boring. It was interesting how they were able to weave so many details into a readable format. It’s worth reading for its historical value.

Great information

Excellent book. I do still believe the assassination was an inside job. Instead of providing other sources that contradict the Warren Commission’s theory, it is simply stated that “no credible sources were found.” Define credible.
