Publisher's summary
Two fathers embarking on the second half of their lives together. Two families in the midst of transformation. A warm, funny, and unforgettable novel about the joys and fears of moving on.
Husbands Thomas and Matt are enjoying a second-chance marriage after coming out, leaving their wives, and finding happiness in a summer cottage on the southern coast of Maine. They’ve kept a tenuous peace with their exes. Thomas toils in the garden. There is an ease to their love. This is the way life should be.
But it’s not long before their three children—each nearing adulthood and fleeing personal crises of their own—descend on their fathers’ bliss. The two-bedroom getaway has just enough space for Thomas and Matt’s future. Now they must make room for the past, and all its drama.
During an unintentional family reunion, old lives, broken and in need of repair, converge with the new. Over the course of an unforgettable summer, two fathers and their children will come together. They’ll understand what life still can be. Pain, anger, flaws and all, they’re determined to forge a loving way forward.

When Marilyn Kleinman is caught making out with the rabbi’s son in front of the whole congregation, her parents ship her off to her great-aunt Ada for the summer. If anyone can save their daughter’s reputation, it’s Philadelphia’s strict premier matchmaker. Either that or Marilyn can kiss college goodbye. To Marilyn’s surprise, Ada’s not the humorless septuagenarian her mother described. Not with that platinum-blonde hair, Hermès scarf, and Cadillac convertible. She’s sharp, straight-talking, takes her job very seriously, and abides by her own rules…mostly.

It is 2015, weeks after the Supreme Court marriage equality ruling. A high school art history teacher, Sebastian Mote envies his queer students and their freedom to live openly the youth he lost to fear and shame. When he runs into his childhood friend Oscar Burnham at a wedding in Washington, DC, he can’t help but see it as a second chance. Now thirty-five, the men haven’t seen each other in more than a decade. But Oscar has no interest in their shared history, nor in the sense of belonging Sebastian craves. Instead, he’s outraged by what he sees as the death of gay culture.

Critic reviews
“Will Damron's passionate narration of this first novel adds additional layers of emotional depth as two men who were once married and had children discover they're gay.… Damron slightly alters his smooth and evocative delivery as the narrative reveals family friction and secrets. This family drama walks well-worn paths amid the contemporary twist of a gay marriage.”—AudioFile Magazine
“Dameron manages to keep all the story lines taut, and the prose is reliably crisp…Fans of Anne Beattie’s family dramas will admire this touching story.”—Publishers Weekly
“The joy in Dameron’s debut novel is found in the chaotic messiness of blending families, and the strength that love and laughter can provide.”—The Washington Post

A timely novel about the radicalization of a Muslim teen in California - about where identity truly lies, and how we find it. Laguna Beach, California, 2010. Reza Courdee, a 14-year-old straight-A student and chemistry whiz, takes his first hit of pot. In as long as it takes to inhale and exhale, he is transformed from the high-achieving son of Iranian immigrants into a happy-go-lucky stoner.

Story
Secrets and lies can’t stay buried forever in Cedar Valley. In the summer, hikers and campers pack the small Colorado town’s meadows and fields. And in the winter, skiers and snowboarders take over the mountains. Season by season, year after year, time passes, and the lies, like the aspens and evergreens that surround the town, take root and spread deep. Now, someone has uncovered the lies, and it is his murder that continues a chain of events that began almost 40 years ago.

Story
Sylvie Campos and Lauren Machado have hated each other since before they were born. For generations, the Campos and Machado families have blamed each other for stealing pastry recipes they claim their great-grandfathers originated before fleeing Castro's Cuba. Having spent their lives as rivals, Lauren and Sylvie are now in their early thirties and primed to take over their respective family bakeries. That means working long, hot, seasons of outdoor food festivals where they are forced to endure each other—albeit with a lot of bantering and barb-trading.

Good story
While everyone wasn’t likable in this novel, you learned to appreciate their flaws. Some themes and terms were overused, but otherwise I enjoyed this audio book.

Nice story
Everyone is included which is nice. However there were too many characters to follow. I would have enjoyed reading more about relationship between the two main gay dads.

A Story that fills you w/ love, laughter & more
Roller coaster of emotions. Makes you think, feel, yell out loud, cry and even laugh. You get a clear image of characters and make them real in your mind.

Sad
But up to date on content. Sad books are not my thing! More description of book would be appropriate.

Unfortunately not for me.
I have to be honest, I struggled with this one. I struggled keeping the characters separate and I really didn’t like the jumping back and forth between POVs and the timelines (lots of flashbacks). This might just be a me issue, but I didn’t expect this book to cover so many heavy topics and I didn't really feel this was "A warm, funny, and unforgettable novel about the joys and fears of moving on".
