Publisher's summary

From the best-selling author of The Tide Between Us and The Memory of Music comes an epic story of the American West.

The Weaver’s Legacy

The year 1865. Goldie O’Neill was nine years of age when she trekked across the unclaimed American West with her family to form their own Irish Catholic colony. Their new community had dreams of self-governance and prosperity far removed from the anti-Irish sentiment and prejudice of the ruling classes. They soon learned about the extremes of the American West and the ongoing Indian war. A year after their arrival, Goldie blames herself for her sister’s disappearance. She forms an unlikely friendship with a Lakota Indian boy who promises to help with her lifelong quest to find her sister. In the intervening years, as their community flourishes and a new prejudice surfaces, her sister’s disappearance ebbs away for everyone except Goldie.

The year 1937. Lucy O’Neill was adopted by her aunt Goldie O’Neill. When she learns that her father, Lorcan O’Neill, has returned to the small town in the Midwest after a 30-year absence, she returns to meet him. Aware of the silence that surrounds his name and the reluctance of her family to reveal the real story, Lucy delves into the past to find a story far removed from the account her aunt had told her.

A complete delight

Being a weaver myself, of course I wanted to read this. I read it as I wove and when I wasn’t weaving. I enjoyed it completely. I got so involved with the characters and story. I was sad when it ended.

It was a good historic novel

The narrator. She put time in the accents, but other than that she seemed flat . ( i rarely do a review)

Too much information all at once

Felt like I was being fed by a hose. So much story in each chapter.

Good story

It was a good story. The narrator was
terrible. No change in tone , no change in tone with characters.

The first part of the story.

It was difficult to keep all the characters straight, so it became a bit confusing.

read too quick

the narrator sped thru this book. she barely took a pause between thoughts. there are a lot of characters in the book. snd sometimes it was tough to remember who she was talking about because she would be talking about 1875 or something and without barely a breath it was 1930. i liked the story, but if the next book has the same narrator. i dont think I'll listen.

The Weavers Legacy

Another story from a branch of the O’Neill family history! This book was so much more than I expected, I am impressed with the history and raw emotions that Oliver Collins gives us in her books.

Terrific story

A true joy to listen to, the presenter did a terrific narration, the author giving a glance into the past with ease.
