About this listen

From beneath the table, a young girl listens to the women of her family as they tell the tales of their history.

Jim: new head of the family, dirt-poor farmer, and moonshiner extraordinaire. Struggling to raise his family up from the white-trash beginnings.

Can one young girl learn how to avoid the hardships she was born into and find love as strong as that which held her family together throughout time?

A true story.

I love this book

this book is a beautiful southern tale about the real life stories of family, struggle, and the strength and bonds of women sharing stories.
I enjoyed it very much and would read it again.

Hard For Me To Relate To

The narration here is strong and the author certainly has plenty of talent but I found the subject matter hard to relate to and my attention wandered throughout. That's not to say that I think you ought to avoid this - just that you should be sure that it's the kind of material you enjoy before you buy it. Note: I asked for and was given a review copy of this book. This did not impact on my review at all.
