About this listen
Werewolves are among our most ancient and deepest fears. The beast run amuck in human form is not a thing of the ancient past, we see headlines about it every day. Shootings, beatings, and other savage acts are part of our lives. Here are seven horrifying classics written between 1939 and 1956, including a shocker from the legendary Weird Tales. Plus the fascinating historical essay, The Origin Of The Werewolf Superstition.

Story
The thrill-a-minute stories the writers of the original movie, The Mummy, with Boris Karloff, and its many sequels and remakes, used for research. Fans of those films will find the origins of: the scene in which the sacred formula for eternal life is secreted in the base of a statue of Isis; as well as the scenes in which mummies are brought back to life by burning a rare Egyptian herb; where a modern woman, who is the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian princess, begins to turn into a mummy herself; where mummies can only be truly destroyed by fire; and many others

He was trapped on a planet of deadly dinosaurs that made Jurassic Park seem like a kid's playground! For one thing, they were smarter than the average dinosaur! The Marshall Museum sent Gene Bishop on a simple mission to the distant world of Erigon to collect dinosaur eggs for the museum’s spectacular DinoWorld park - a scrupulous recreation of the Mesozoic Era on Earth. Bishop figured it as a quick in and out - swoop down, grab some eggs and be gone. But he figured wrong.

Story
Since the dawn of time, across almost every culture, there have been legends of shape-shifters. Men who turn into beasts and prey upon anyone unfortunate enough to cross their path. Of the shape-shifter tales, none invokes as much terror as the legend of the werewolf. The stories of men who become wolves persisted through the centuries from campfire folk tales to the modern age, where we are still thrilled and horrified by tales of bloodthirsty predators in our midst.

From the renowned author Jack London comes two classic adventure stories about primitivism, nature, and early 20th-century life. Seen through the eyes of two dogs, their stories are distinct yet share similarities, and they have cemented London as a literary genius and writer. Including complex themes such as morality and redemption, Jack London’s classic works have stood the test of time and remain central examples of literary fiction, a must-hear for anyone interested in the brilliant works of the past.

Story
George MacDonald was a master storyteller, the author of beautiful fictions such as Phantastes, Sir Gibbie, and The Princess and the Goblin. The story of Lilith is no different. A brilliant piece that dives deep into the human conscience. Some believe this is MacDonald's darkest story. It has been said that C. S. Lewis was fascinated with this work. A fantasy indeed, but as with much of MacDonald's work, living truths are ingrained within. Enjoy.

A history of the Werewolf
This was an amazing book. I have been interested in werewolves for a few years now, and it gave different stories about how they showed up in history. The one thing I did not care for was some of the non PC language, but they did warn about it at the beginning.

Historical Werewolf Tales
This is an interesting collection of various tales of werewolves throughout history. The collection begins with an essay about the origin of the werewolf superstition. I found it fascinating that there are so many tales of humans being able to shift into different animals in the mythology/superstitions in most of the world. I appreciate the fact that this collection also includes tales that would not be considered politically correct in today's world and did not try to alter them or apologize for the verbiage of their times.
If you enjoy werewolf tales, you should give this book a try. As with most collections like this, some of the stories were more interesting than others, but all of them gave a new and different perspective to the werewolf mythos. All in all, an entertaining audiobook that will educate as well as entertain the listener.
The narrator does a great job and added a lot to my enjoyment of this book. I applaude Wordwooze Publishing for rescuing these tales (and others that they have published) for modern readers to be able to access. It would be a shame for us to lose these fascinating stories. I was given the chance to listen to this book by the Publisher and chose to review it.
