About this listen

That marriage pact I made with my grumpy, off-limits best friend. That was totally a joke...Right?

It was a heat-of-the-moment agreement scribbled onto the back of a crinkled gas station receipt nine years ago. "If neither of us is married by age 30, we'll marry each other." Haha! So funny!

Cash moved to a city 500 miles away, built his billion-dollar empire, and made a name for himself.

Me? I stayed in our gossipy hometown, working a simple job and living a simple life.

And we never discussed the marriage pact again. But I just turned the big three-oh, and Cash showed up at my door in the middle of a freaking rainstorm. Tall, muscled, and soaking wet with a birthday cake in his hand and a daring smirk that says he means business.

Holy plot twist! Didn't see that coming!

Now the small-town rumor mill is in overdrive. Cash is dissolving my defenses with those sexy half-smiles he saves just for me. And my brain is exploding with what-ifs...

What if we give this a shot?

What if we're crazy enough to try?

What if we're good together?

We've always been 'just friends'. We're experts at playing it safe. But his skin on my skin leaves me reeling. His oh-so-fiery kisses melt my excuses. I know our decade-plus friendship is on the line. But I'm aching to see Cash's wild side.

The Wild Side is a steamy, laugh-out-loud, friends-to-lovers small-town romance. It is book one in the Wild Westbrooks Series.

Totally wild

Best friends that’s what Megan and Cash are, but the night if Megan’s 30th birthday Cash surprises her and him with their “wedding contract” staying if either of them or married by 30, that they would marry each other. But can they make a real go if it or will life and distance get in the way.

Enjoyed the story but….

I really struggled with the female narrator’s “guy” voice. I enjoyed the book but it’s just so over the top annoying it was distracting from the story. Main character narration is good but the character switch is just annoying.

best friends to lovers small town romance

I enjoyed this story about Megan and Cash. The side characters, while there are many, are easy to keep track of and have distinct personalities that make me want to learn more about them. there were a couple of parts that started to get frustrating because of the stubbornness of the main characters, but in the end it was a sweet romance and the big gesture at the end was perfect for their relationship.

I really enjoyed this book and narrators did an amazing job. I can't wait for Jasper's book.

Good story

The Wild Side (The Wild Westbrooks #1) is a small town, friends to lovers romance.

Cash and Meghan were a cute couple. They’ve been friends for years, and struggled on whether to give in to the marriage pact they made years prior. You could feel the deep connection they built over the years. Great chemistry and steam in this book. I always enjoy the drama that comes from a small town, where everyone knows your business.

Gabriel Spires and Rebecca Woods did a really good job narrating this book. Definitely enjoyed them portraying these characters.

Wanted to give a higher review…BUT…

This is my first time listening to a Cassie-Ann L. Miller book so since it’s my first one I have nothing of hers to compare it to.

Here are my thoughts:
When I read the blurb before purchasing, of course I was interested which is why I bought it.

I feel like there was way too much inner dialogue and not enough communication between the H/h. This would have knocked the time down on the book, in my opinion.

There seemed to be a lot of “extra” information, like mom’s money issues (which might play a part in another book later 🤷🏼‍♀️, just guessing), the sisters (even though I wanted to actually know more about that. I know I’m being wishy-washy here. But I feel like this could have had its own piece in the story instead of focusing on Mom so much…but I digress…obviously I’m not the author! 😋)

The narrators: they were both new to me. I think they both did a great job when they were doing their own parts. When Rebecca was doing the male part it didn’t hit for me. I did speed it up and it was better. Gabriel’s parts were fine.

I will read the next book, I think it’s Jasper’s. I’m waiting on Davis’…😏😉…come back Al!

Like I said…I wanted to rate it higher, all the inner dialogue killed me and honestly, I did hit the 30 a few times and skipped ahead when they were rattling on. But the story is solid, the spice spicy, and there is a HEA.

OH, there was a few times when the author chose a few words and I was like 🧐…so there’s that!
