About this listen

Breaking News: Rugby’s bad boy marries his best friend’s little sister.

If Renn Brewer would’ve asked me to marry him, I would’ve said no. Why? One, his reputation precedes him. His name is in the headlines at least once a month. Two, he’s not just my brother’s best friend. They’re teammates. And three, I’m in my self-care era.

Unfortunately, a version of me equates self-care with bad choices.

The cocktail in my hand—similar to the one that got me into this situation—is the prettiest shade of pink. It’s almost the same color as the giant rock on my left hand. And instead of discussing an annulment, I’m considering a 90-day marriage of convenience to the man I accidentally married in Las Vegas.

Renn didn’t propose marriage. But he does deliver a proposal I might be unable to turn down.

USA Today and Amazon charts best-selling author Adriana Locke delivers a "spicy & sweet" forbidden sports romance with a marriage of convenience that will make you swoon!

Fun, Flirty and Absolutely Delightful

The Proposal is an absolute delight!!! Renn and Blakely are so adorable and this heartfelt, flirty story was such a fun read. I LOVED it!!

The tension and flirty banter between Renn and Blakely was perfection. They had always had an undeniable chemistry but been afraid too act on it. Once they finally gave into the attraction between them, sparks were flying off the pages.

I loved how these two tackled their issues together and really communicated their feelings for the most part. Their chemistry was felt in their every interaction, but you could also see the feelings underneath their flirtations.

I also listened to the audio of this title and it was just as much fun as reading it. John Lane voiced Renn and his deep voice lent itself nicely to bringing Renn to life. Avery Caris was a new narrator to me and I loved her portrayal of Blakely. Both had me completely immersed in the story and made me fall in love with it all over again.

Add in a surprise that will add to the delight of this book and The Proposal is not to be missed. It’s a lighthearted, feel good read with just enough angst to keep it fresh and give you all the feels. I hope to see these two again because I absolutely loved most of Renn’s family and am keeping my fingers crossed that his siblings will be getting stories in the future.

Great!!

Another great book by Adriana Locke! I was hooked from the very beginning and didn’t want to stop this this one! If you love brothers best friend, sports and a wedding that isn’t remembered you’re going to love this book! The chemistry between Renn and Blakely was amazing! I found myself chuckling through parts and feeling the feels. I really enjoyed the narrators in this audio. This is a standalone, but I am hoping we get more from the Brewer family!

One of the best couples I've read

I'm fairly new to Adriana Locke, but the more I read (or listen to), the more impressed I am. The Proposal is my latest listen, and it's everything I'm coming to expect from this author. This one is packed full of charm and wit, and Ren and Blakely are easily one of the best couples I've read in a long time. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I found myself feeling a little jealous of Blakely - because Ren! OMG, this guy is the total package. He's sweet, he's sexy, and he has just the right amount of arrogance to be sure of himself without being a jerk. Seriously, if you're gonna have a book boyfriend, Ren is The One! Unfortunately for us, he's all about Blakely, which just adds to his appeal. That said, I have to say that Blakely is a great character in her own right. She's sassy and full of fire even as she's still trying to figure out where she wants her life to go.
Now, take all of that and put it in the ever-capable hands (or should I say mouths) of John Lane and Avery Caris for the narration. Adriana Locke couldn't have chosen better for the voices of these characters. Avery Caris brings out all of Blakely's fire, and John Lane has the perfect sexy voice for Ren.
So, I may still be playing catch-up with this author's work, but it's safe to say that this is another great read and/or listen. It's just right for a weekend or vacation read or even a fun road trip with Lane and Caris along for the ride. This one is easily in my top ten reads for the year.

tricky tricky Renn

This such a cute story. I am a sloot for brothers best friend, then add in an accidental.wedding with an interesting proposal to keep the marriage. John and Avery captured Renn and Blakely perfectly. The pining, the spice and the sweet, i seriously just loved listening to this! start to finish

A birthday trip to Vegas turned into an accidental marriage and honeymoon. She wants a divorce, but what she wants more is a baby. Renn has been crushing hard on his buddies sister, so he makes a proper proposal, but not for marriage.

Stay married to me for 3 months for the sake of no public backlash, and then I'll give you a baby. Like it's a hardship with a hot rugby player that is insatiable and matches her energy in the bedroom. But can they make it the 3 months?

My jaw dropped at the words that came out of Renns fathers mouth. ^ then loved the closeness of the family and they all backed up Renn and Blakely.

Renn and Blakely have fantastic banter and their chemistry is so hot it could burn down a house. Then there’s this nugget information that will surprise you and make you giddy. Absolutely worth the listen. 🔥🔥

A surprisingly mild romance

“An elephant sits next to the Llama in the corner and neither of us knows how to address it.”
I admit that I don’t really go for famous people romances (royals, actors, or athletes).
But, thanks to Swift winning the Super Bowl 😜, I have a new found soft spot for professional athletes finding their HEA despite the social media attention. And, as it turns out, although the summary and the book paint Renn as some superficial playboy, he’s actually 100% respectful and sweet from chapter 1.

Perhaps he’s too sweet. The only friction between them is friend-flirting and the only conflict is the
over-the-top external pressure to maintain famous people’s images. It was fun and a little flirty, but not nearly as spicy or sassy as I thought it would be. Hence, the chemistry didn’t sizzle as much as I wanted in the two naughty scenes. Which is not to say I hated this book; this is a zippy romance with supportive friends and family, and even a bit of a bonus romance involving Blakely’s friend Ella.

Renn to Bianca: “Call someone else the next time you think your neighbor may be an apex predator.”
My favorite character was Renn’s sister Bianca, who stole the show in the limited scenes she was in.
The author seems to have a thing for connecting her various series via every twenty or thirty something who appears in each book (I’m hearing Oprah saying ‘you get a romance’ and ‘you get a romance’ to the brother, sister, bodyguard, etc. appearing here). The end even plugs the book Flame, featuring Foxx and Bianca, so I just might move on now and see if Bianca’s story is as good as I think it will be.

Loved Everything About This!!😍😍

🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧

The Proposal is a fun marriage of convenience/brother’s best friend romance by Adriana Locke. All Blakely wanted to do was celebrate her birthday in Vegas, but apparently too much alcohol has consequences that end in vows and follow you home. Now she’s married to the bad boy of rugby who is also her brother’s best friend that she has a crush on, and damage control is the name of the game since so much is at stake for both of them. They have a temporary agreement, but the sparks flying between them and the obvious feelings don’t feel temporary. Will they finally be honest about their feelings before it’s too late?

I listened to the audio version of this book, narrated by John Lane and Avery Caris. I was hooked from the very beginning. The story had me swooning, laughing, and all in my feelings during the emotional moments. The chemistry, banter, and flirting between Blakely and Renn was excellent, and the narrators both portrayed all the different aspects of the different characters with ease. Kudos to John for throwing those little snippets of Australian accent in staying true to Renn’s background.😍 I loved the way Avery portrayed Blakely’s sassy side and more vulnerable side. This story was a blast, and as a fan of the Carmichael Family series, I’m even more excited for Foxx’s book now!!

I received an audio copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fun and spicy romance

This is one of the best brother’s best friend forbidden romances I have read in years. It is fun, flirty, spicy and swoony.

The narrators give a great performance and it’s another family to love from Adrianna Locke.

Blakely and Renn truly had a lovely HEA.

It was okay

This story was just okay for me. Not bad, but not especially good. I never felt any real chemistry between Blakely and Renn. It was just sexual attraction, leading to a marriage of convenience, followed by more sexual attraction. Their relationship never developed any depth.

This was a 3.5-star story until an issue arose with Renn's dad near the end. It came out of the blue, felt out of place with the flow of the story, and was way overdone. The 3.5 stars was going to round up to a 4 until that point, but those scenes caused me so many eye rolls I had to round down instead. Overall, this story just missed the mark for me. It wasn't bad; it just wasn't really...anything.

The narration was good. Avery Caris was perfectly cast and gave a great performance. John Lane also performed exceptionally well, but I feel like he was miscast in this role, through no fault of his own. I love John's voice. In fact, he's one of my favorite historical romance narrators (under another pseudonym.) He has a rich, authoritative baritone that's perfect for a lot of roles, but it felt too mature for Renn (kind of like when Sebastian York is cast to voice a 20-something.) Again, just a casting issue, not a performance issue.
