Publisher's summary

A young woman. A family secret. A devastating truth that could destroy the man she loves.

Many years ago, the Rosetta family's hard-won dreams of staking their claim in the vineyards of California came to fruition. Now, high-spirited, passionate Caterina Rosetta, who has inherited both her mother's talent for crafting the finest wines and also her indomitable will, wants nothing more than to win her mother's approval and work at her side. But that can never happen, because Caterina is keeping a secret that could ruin her: a daughter of her own, fathered by the love of her life, who left her without explanation.

Just as she feels she has nowhere to turn, Caterina discovers that she has inherited a vineyard in the Tuscan countryside in Italy, from a grandmother she's never heard of, and she seizes the chance to start a new life for herself and her child. But the past is not so easily outrun. In the country of her ancestors, Caterina meets the family of the father she never knew, and discovers that her mother is also hiding her own secret - a secret so devastating it threatens the future of everything her family has worked for.

As an old murder comes to light, and Caterina uncovers a tragedy that may destroy the man she loves, she realizes her happiness will depend on revealing the truth of her mother's buried past - if she has the strength to face it.

From author Jan Moran comes The Winemakers, a sweeping, romantic novel that will hold you in its grasp until the last delicious sip.

Critic reviews

"As she did with fragrance and scent-making in Scent of Triumph (2015), Moran weaves knowledge of wine and winemaking into this intense family drama." ( Booklist)

Jan Moran is a master story teller.

I love Moran’s beach stories with the hidden treasures as the main characters restore the beautiful beach home. I love the treasures found in each additional book. I am waiting for the spiral staircase that will lead to the reading area under the stained class window.
I hope she follows up with an additional book based on the Winemakers with the vineyard in Italy.
I loved the Chocolatier as well.

Delightfully unexpected and twisty

Delightfully unexpected and twisty. Definitely enjoyed how the wine details were interwoven with family history.

Excellent read with suspense to keep you reading.

Very good with enough twist and turns to keep it interesting without being overly predictable like so many are. I have read other books by this author and this is one of her better ones. Recommend for a relaxing, enjoyable reader.

A long story interesting

I enjoyed it but it took forever to find happiness. I would have enjoyed their love and how they fixed up their villa. Not just end the way it did

“ Page turning” Romance with a little Mystery

This would make a gorgeous movie! Napa Valley way back when is always seductive…Italy too…passion and wine…
What’s not to like? The only reason I gave it four stars for performance, though it is a small criticism, is for the exclamations from the baby. We really could do without those. Otherwise, a very enjoyable reading.

Predictive and disappointing.

I feel the author could have done so much more with this plot. As written, it is trite, on the surface, unless the characters are whining to themselves. I will say the narrator was fabulous.

I had such high hopes.

Disappointing

Don’t waste your time. The narrator’s accent was awful, the storyline was too long, trite and totally predictable.

I purchased this title because I am interested in winemaking, Napa Valley and Italy. This was totally disappointing. I skipped many chapters to hear the ending and it was completely predictable.
