About this listen

It’s my destiny as wolf prince to find my mate. But what happens when she’s someone that nobody expected…

I’ve lost count of the number of Lunar Mate ceremonies I’ve attended where every eye is on me.

As the son of shifter royalty, I’m supposed to find a fated mate who will continue my family’s powerful legacy. But at forty years of age, everyone is starting to think that person doesn’t exist, including me.

Then I experience a pull so deep and so undeniable, that when I look up and meet the eyes of a waitress, our gazes lock. Recognition sparks between us.

In an instant, I’m sure. This woman is mine.

I can tell my parents sense the connection, too. But judging by their expressions, they know something I don’t.

Like me, they’re aware she’s special. But the fear in their eyes tells me she’s the last person on Earth they want to be my mate...

Strong, intelligent wolves

I enjoyed this book , could not stop listening. And definitely will buy the next one. I love that it was such a long book. Also, you get your moneys worth, but you find yourself loving the characters in this book and hating some of them so much. I highly recommend this author and this book. It definitely will leave you with a cliffhanger.

Generally I liked it!

The narration was good enough for me. The story was interesting and engaging. I have a few plot gripes: 1. redundancy 2. plot inconsistencies 3. poor pacing 4. major cliffhanger.

*****MILD SPOILERS*****

1. The 1st third of the book has the MCs repeating "oh he's/she's my fated mate" several times in each scene. It gets old really fast and I was super glad when it ceased.
2. The are several inconsistencies. Some are really annoying: like when Liza learns she's royal and has more wealth than the Kellers but she promptly forgets it and bemoans not being royal. Or when Ty says he can't cook/ is terrible at it early in the book, but later on whips up a gourmet meal like it's nbd while stating that he likes to do it to relax.
3. The book is too long. Like 30% of the book is Liza & Ty saying they need to communicate better then keeping things to themselves (although Liza is better at coming clean). These instances are repetitive and do not further character or plot development. There are other things that happen that also could've been cut for the same reason yo improve the pacing. It dragged really hard in the middle because of the fluff.
4. It is not a standalone book. This really did not impact my review I just like to include this for people who read comments.

Despite my gripes, the book is enjoyable and spicy without falling into erotica so I generally liked it and will look for the rest of the series when it's published.

how to proceed????

I'm a bit torn - Did I like the book? - Yes, Was it too long and could have been shorter? - Hell yes!
The story line started out like a Cinderella story but turned into soooo much more - the character development was well done but the 26.5 hours of listening could have been cut in half.
In addition - *spoiler alert* - I didn't have a problem with the villain getting away making way for book 2 but I didn't appreciate the "hook" as some might call it,...heading to the moles house and the book ending without knowing who the mole was after 26.5 hours.

The plot was well written.

Loved the entire book. It was too difficult to pin it down to just one thing I might have liked.

far better than expected

the realism of the relationship was refreshing. its amazing that those same issues exist at much narrower socio economic strata

Too long

so much unnecessary stuff. It lasted way too long. Even if the next 2 books were available I wouldn’t listen. Ennui.

DNF w/3h left

Narration was ok. Some good characters and angst at the beginning. However, the longer it went on, the more I started hating the characters…I mean ALL of them. The FL is a doormat. The ML is a lying spineless prick. Several HUGE plot holes show up, seemingly to keep the FL stuck in a relationship with the ML. And I really, really hate when an author keeps a villain around by way of stupid characters…ie: “he’s a known serial killer but maybe I’ll just catch and release him and it’ll be fine.” Ugh. I stopped reading when I started hoping the FL would lose her mind for good and burn everything and everyone to the ground and run off with all her money…then I remember I don’t like her either. Doormat. Oh and wtf with the weirdly timed sex scenes (steamy yes but at odd times just ruins the mood).
