About this listen

This is the timeless tale of Dorothy and her friends, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsman, and the Cowardly Lion, in the enchanting land of OZ. Those who have only seen the movie are in for a real treat, as much of the book did not make it into the classic 1939 film.Public Domain (P)1980 Jimcin Recordings Classics Fantasy Fantasy & Magic Fiction Literature & Fiction Romance Science Fiction & Fantasy Young Adult Feel-Good

Editorial reviews

If we are honest with ourselves, we will admit that there is no book more pleasurable than Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In this audio rendition, our well-loved friends - the Tin Woodsman, the Cowardly Lion, and Dorothy - are vividly animated. The narrator of this audiobook is Cindy Hardin Killavey, whose voice is sugar sweet and soothing - listeners will forget she is not actually the Good Witch herself.

Very well done version of this classic story. The two narrators did a terrific job with the voices. Kids and adults loved it!

Wonderful, indeed!

I purchased this story to get some background on the beloved musical version, and to compare the differences. However, this book was hard to keep up with because the narrator is very monotone and dull.

Beloved story- dull reading of the tale
