About this listen

No commitments. No expectations. No way this could possibly go wrong…right?

Former special-ops soldier Sam Brand is used to getting what he wants. What he wants is to unbutton the buttoned-down, sweet, and shy Dahlia McGregor. He’s hot to find her wild side. She’s eager to let him explore it. So he makes his proposition - no strings, no hurt feelings, and no promises - save for one: she’ll have the time of her life.

After a broken engagement, Lia’s looking to someday find the right man and settle down. That’s some day. Now it’s all about the night. A hot, meaningless fling with a magnificently weathered blue-eyed stud like Sam couldn’t hurt: he’s sexy, and sure he’s arrogant, but best of all, he’s here. In other words, he’s perfect…for now.

But when Sam is wounded in the line of duty and left in Lia’s tender loving care, all bets are off. Because the more time they spend together, the more it becomes clear: this “one night” deal is getting steamier and lasting longer than they counted on. It started as a fun little game. Is it possible they could be playing for keeps?

This is my fave ❤️ the suave protector and the broken romantic. This hits home, for many of us I'd think, with the current dating scene and what a losing lottery it is. Cringey. Aside from that, loving Sam's denial and manipulation schemes; too funny.

❤️❤️❤️

I’m still loving all of Natasha Anders work. And I realize that Ingeborg Riedmaier gave this series a wonderful flavor of S Africa. I understood just how subtle her accents were when she did the Southern American drawl for Brand’s top employee. I’d like to see a book with him as a main character. Is that a plan?
Love you, Natasha!

Maybe my favorite of the series.

I didn’t like the way the male lead spoke to the female lead, and it seems like the more he treated her like crap, the more she wanted him. Telling someone that you love them right after you treat them like crap should not be glorified. And that’s my issue with some of these “romance” novels. The writers tell the readers the like that it’s ok for leader male or females to treat each other like crap and it’s ok. Writers need to be somewhat more realistic about love, tell a story about love that doesn’t have to be about hero or heroine treating each other bad.

Need to be realistic about love

This was a good book but I wanted more action and less wobbling between the two main characters' emotions.

Body guard by another name

I enjoyed this book. I did feel though that with the nature of Sam’s profession, I expected a more exciting ending, but it still entertained me.

Good Fun!
