About this listen

Out in the field the tall stalks sway in the breeze, hiding a girl lying on the ground as if asleep. But she doesn’t stir when rain falls from the gray sky and lands on her soft cheeks. Her beautiful dark eyes stare up, unseeing, as her blood mingles with the rich brown earth.

When a member of Detective Casey White’s team turns up at her door begging for help, Casey races to find the broken body of 20-year-old Charlie Robson abandoned in a sunflower field. Yellow petals and broken stalks scatter the ground—and Casey immediately recognizes the red markings all over Charlie’s body as arrow wounds. Heartbroken, Casey vows to find the monster who would hunt Charlie down like this.

Interviewing Charlie’s distraught mother, Casey’s blood turns to ice when she learns about a tightknit group of Charlie’s best friends who once called themselves The Sunflower Girls. They met in archery club and have drifted apart since high school. Casey knows the killer is sending a message with arrows...could the other girls be next?

But as Casey instructs her colleagues to track down the five remaining friends, another girl’s body is found, shot with arrows in her own home. Clutched in her hand is a broken sunflower petal. Turning the house upside down Casey finds a bone-chilling, one-word note: Guilty.

Someone is picking off The Sunflower Girls one by one. But why? Interviewing the four remaining girls, Casey is certain they are hiding a dark secret that stretches back to their school days. Trusting no one, Casey will have to risk everything to track down a deadly killer...but with her own team keeping secrets too, could the real danger be much closer to home?

An unbelievably twisty roller-coaster ride that will have fans of Robert Dugoni, Kendra Elliot, and Lisa Regan totally hooked!

Enjoyed this one!

I feel like this story could have been a bit more developed but actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Wondering if Casey and Jericho will ever move? I prefer they stay in the outer banks to be honest.

Will Casey and Jericho really leave the Outer Banks?

Casey and Jericho are in the process of moving to Philadelphia yo be closer to her new found daughter when the close relative of one of her team is murdered. The investigation leads them to a paroled child molester. More deaths of former members of an archery HS team, dubbed The Sunflower Girls and Casey is on the hunt to stop a sadistic killer.
Good story, although not as good as prior books.
Loved the teaser at the end.

I love the twist and turns of the book. I have to listen to the end without stopping.

What I really like the most is that she doesn’t go into details for such long periods of time about sex and making love.

Worst of her books ever

Ihave read/listened to all of her books. This was the first one with a half-developed story. It is like she got tired of writing it and ended. A great clue which was developed, was left to be an aside—yes it proved that the murderer wAs a murderer, but we already knew that.
And the other storyline was given a one paragraph ending before launching a new mystery.
I am done with BR Spangler.

I can't get past the narrators voice!

I love the author and I have read every book in this series. But I simply cannot finish listening to this boom. I'm on chapter 7 and honestly don't know what is going on in story. IT Is Not The book! I bet is just as awesome as the rest of the series. But the narrators voice is distracting! the voice is too raspy and she makes Casy and Jericho sound like seniors who shouldn't be detectives, but kn a nursing home. I cannot visualize the story in my head because the voice is way too off for Casey and Jericho. visualizing the story in your head it what the joy of reading is about. I will buy on the kindle app and read it instead.
