Love the characters and the book and the series

Of course being a Rose Gardner Mysteries groupie I love this book. Denise keeps you on the edge of your headphones. But the story and the characters grab your heart and wring it dry! Shannon McManus does such a great job! Love her doing the books.!I hope she continues with the books that follow on with these same characters.

Last but not least

This was a great final wrap up of Rose's story and a great lead in to her next chapter of life. I will say I find the long pauses between chapters to be very annoying.

Best series I’ve read in awhile!

This series had me hooked! I enjoyed the characters both good and bad. Somehow Ms. Swank made even the bad characters (except JR) have a bit of humanity and good. This series is funny, serious, romantic, intriguing all wrapped up into one very enjoyable package. I can’t wait to start the new series, Rose Gardner Investigations!
Don’t miss this one! It’s worth it!!

Very good narration

The narration of this book is excellent. The story, the last in this series, is full of suspense, excitement, and great characters.

Great conclusion to the series

I love this series and this book did a good job of tying up all the loose ends. Rose is a woman living in a nosy closed minded small town. She experiences visions that she’s compelled to share with the person she has them of. Rose continues to stumble into crimes and be good hearted to a fault but she is no longer the naive, innocent woman from last year and the first book in the series. Her innocent Rose persona and her strong Lady in Black persona have merged to become the real Rose. This book picks up where the last book left off. JR was shot by Rose and arrested. Of course, someone as evil as JR with far reaching ties is too slippery to stay in custody long. Now Rose and her friends will need to figure out how to outwit JR and get to the bottom of all the mysteries to keep everyone safe. The book was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, and an engaging storyline with sweet moments, exciting action, danger, family drama, painful pasts, mystery, plot twists, imperfect characters, missteps, and all the big feels. I am sorry to see the series end but excited to read the spin off series.

Shannon McManus did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.

No longer a must have series

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

There was zero romance in this book! It went from a quirky, fun mystery romance series to a monotonous murder book. The mystery was boring, the outcomes excessively violent and the plot to keep any romance from happening was forced (Neely Kate and Ronny, Rose and Mason, Rose and Skeeter, etc.) These books used to make me happy. Now I feel depressed by the end.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Sandra Browns latest, hands down! I also put Catherine Coulter's newest Sherlock and Savage book on hold and can't wait to get back to it!

What does Shannon McManus bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is amazing! The best thing about this book! Her voice is so pleasant and she has perfect variation for each character without making any characters annoying. Love her!

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

For sure...the closure on the JR Simmons issue finally happened.
