Publisher's summary

The anticipated conclusion of the Logan & Kayla saga in the Checkmate Duet Series from a secret duo under the USA Today best-selling author pseudonym, Kennedy Fox!

This second-chance romance will have you gasping and cheering these two on from the first to the last moment! Are you ready to play the final game?

Kayla Sinclair is a saint and real life Angel.

She wears her heart on her sleeve and inspires me to be a better person.

Rescuing dogs, feeding the homeless, volunteering at the local food pantry are just a few of the ways she gives back to others, although no one has ever been there for her.

Falling for her was inevitable, losing her will destroy me.

Letting someone in didn't come easy, but she made me want to try for the first time in years.

Her bubbling personality and kind spirit make it impossible to forget a girl like her.

But when tragedy strikes and she loses all memory that our relationship ever existed, my worst nightmare comes to life.

I'll do anything to remind her of the love we shared. I know it'll be an uphill battle, but I won't walk away without a fight. Whoever said all is fair in love and war never played by my rules.

Checkmate, Angel.

Perfect ending

Logan and Kayla’s story is one of my favorites of this series! I’m sad that listening to the Checkmate Duets is over because I just love all these couples stories.

Lia Langola is by far one of my favorite female narrators and she does such a great job narrating both the female and male characters.

I have read all of these books in this series but I love being able to listen to them in the car when I am driving. Since it has been a while since I read them it was nice to catch up with these characters again. If you have a chance to pick up these audio books you should. It’s nice to be able to listen to them when you are needing something different then sitting down and reading the books. I highly recommend!

Wonderful Story & Narration🎧Outstanding Series!

This is beautiful indeed, Kennedy Fox does not disappoint in this final book of the series. This is the second part of Logan and Kayla’s story, it picks up right where “This is Dangerous” left off. Be sure to read or listen to that book first, this is not a standalone, and events that happened in that book is mentioned here, especially that epic ending. Kayla is in the hospital with a head injury and she has no memory of the past two years, which includes meeting Logan. Logan is heartbroken but hopeful she will remember but his hope starts to dissipate as time goes on and she is not remembering them or what they had. Kayla is the same yet parts of her are different, especially standing up for herself against her bully boss. She also gains the courage to do what she really wanted to do. Drew continue to work on his big case, we also get answers to why she was there and several other things Drew stumbled upon. I was rooting for these two as they tried to find their love once again. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is both beautifully and cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some humor, heartfelt and emotional moments and a wonderful romance. It was great to see all the characters again, said it is the end of the series but who knows maybe one day we will hear from them again at least I hope so. Kennedy Fox thank you for this amazing series, I loved every minute of it.

🎧📚🎧And for the fabulous narration, Lia Langola is a talented narrator and voice artist. She is the one who brought all these characters to life, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. She grasped each characters persona and played the role with perfection, sounding just as I pictured the to sound. She set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters emotions and projected them into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

That Second Chance came out of nowhere

I never would have thought you could nest a second chance romance into a friends-to-lovers, part-time dad romance situation, but Kennedy Fox did it!

Where we begin: this is book two of Logan & Kayla's story. If you have not read "This is Dangerous" then stop here and do that first.

At the end of book 1, there was an incident that cause Kayla to sustain some head trauma. She was sedated for several days to cope with swelling and Logan never left her side. This happened after a being together (finally!!!!) for a few months. When she wakes up, Kayla has no memory of our hot-as-hell police detective and OMG!!!! How can she forget him????

Kayla has basically had the last 2 years (since about the end of This is Love) lost from her mind. As far as she knows, Traviola are planning their wedding and Drewtney are only friends.

What is our hero to do? He's told by the doctors to let her memories come back on their own and he tries to respect that. But Kayla wants to know and after scouring social media and text histories (bleeding uterus and glazed donut anyone?) she knows that she and Logan were something more.

How do you manage the relationship from the other side? when the 2 involved are in completely different places? Now Logan is the one doing the chasing and Kayla is trying to find the depth of emotion she knows must have been there. How do they fall in love again and manage the gap in memories that will inevitably generate a gap in their relationship?

It's crazy wild ride and it completely tore up my insides. But take a breath and push through, there is light at the end of the tunnel and HEA is guaranteed... you just have to survive the twists to get there.

I'm still loving Lia Langola's portrayal of these characters. The depth of emotions brought into both Logan and Kayla as they deal with these circumstances is intense. She did a great job.

Will team Layla survive?

This book picks up with Kayla in the hospital being treated for her fall & hitting her head on the sidewalk. Kayla has no memory of the past two years...she doesn’t remember Logan! Cue the waterworks! Logan is taking his time w Kayla w the hope that her memory will return...but Kayla is torn, she doesn’t feel that love that she’s been told existed between her & Logan. Meanwhile, the ex is trying to get back together w Logan...draaamaaaa! It was nice to get some closure on this last couple and, after some drama w exes and a stalker, team Layla finally got their HEA.

Perfect conclusion to this duet and series!

This is Beautiful is the conclusion to Logan and Kayla’s duet and the sixth and final book in the Checkmate Series. It picks up right where This is Dangerous left off: Kayla waking up from a medically induced coma after a head injury with no memories of the last two years—or Logan.

After finding out that Kayla had been in a relationship with Logan before her accident Kayla feels like she owes it to both Logan and herself to give their relationship a do-over. Kayla’s heart and mind are at war though and it doesn’t go unnoticed by Logan, who can feel her holding him at arms length. Throw in some suspense and an ex that won’t quit and you’ve got Kennedy Fox’s signature recipe for a 5 star read.

Logan has to be my favorite main character of this series. I feel like Logan showed the most growth as an individual and partner. He went from closed off and determined to avoid relationships at all cost to in love, no holds barred. When Logan loves, boy does he love—HARD. And Lia Langola captured every ounce of emotion for Logan so perfectly. This was her best narration of the series in my opinion.

Although I’m sad to say goodbye to the three Checkmate Series Duet couples, I can’t wait to see what else Kennedy Fox has in store for us!

I Will Miss These Friends!

4.5 Stars

This is the conclusion of Logan and Kayla's journey. The story picks up right where it left off. It was a ride, I did feel that some of the previous issues were just glossed over or forgotten about so I didn't get as much closure as I had hoped for. Overall, I did love this story and will miss this group of friends and their relationships.

This specific video review will be included in the December 2018 wrap-up.

My Two Pennies

Lis Langola is THE narrator for this series without a doubt. I’m so thrilled that she was able to complete them all. The way we’re pulled into the story is wonderful, you can easily tell which person is talking and they do in fact have their own personalities coming through even as you’re listening and not just reading. Well done! As for the story ... My heart was in pieces with the cliffhanger in Logan and Kayla’s story and have been dying to get to the second half. There wasn’t a second of disappointment while hearing the conclusion to their story, there was however a lot of heartbreak for Logan. I felt it for Kayla too don’t get me wrong but I just felt more of a connection to him through this part. This man devoted his time, patience and his whole heart to Kayla every second I could feel how determined yet beaten he felt. If I was able to I would had their story glued to me and would of finished it in one sitting no matter how long it took. I absolutely loved it and of course towards the end there’s the biggest grin on my face. It’s sad to know that this particular series is ending but we’ve met all of these wonderful characters. I will undoubtedly be following these two authors for their future workings in the book industry. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Best of the Series!

Five golden, angsty stars for this final part of the Logan and Kayla duet, which closes out the Checkmate series.

This. was. the. best. Logan and Kayla fought so hard to even make it as a couple, and were beyond beautiful together when tragedy struck. Logan had already shown what a man of strength, honor, and grit he was in the previous novels. But this one, Sweet Sunday Mornings! His character is so gentle, patient, and kind while still harboring that amazing protector quality Kayla needs (whether she knows it or not). This man has White Knight DNA.

I love that the author didn't take the easy way out of this story line, which would have made it trite and sappy. Instead, these characters stayed true to who they were and fought-- again-- for themselves. This wasn't a roller coaster ride of emotions, it was cat 5 hurricane.

Beautiful. Just beautiful.
