About this listen

Jeanine is an amazing writer so profound. I am second generation Mexican born in Los Angeles. You do not have to be Mexican to

To write about a particular country culture or the people of the country
Michner wrote about Hawaii, Poland
Alaska, Texas etc - you must do a lot of research and have the ability to touch
people’s souls.

Highly recommend

Education is key in writing something like this when you are not the person experiencing this events. I do not understand much as to why this book is not like. I do believe if you have not experience anything like this before this book is great to read. This book can sow the seed that allows others to look into the fact about what is going on in other countries, why the need to cross to USA. I really hope people really read this book all the way to the end. I did look at google to educate myself more I watch documentaries on Youtube about the beast, La bestia. I now give so much thanks to God Elohim for the life I have. I will pray more for the people who are trying to come to USA and for those who couldn't make it. Please read this book, open your mind and always show kindness to all the humans that pass your way and look different than you. This book is great and I believe Jeanine Cummins should be thank for being a voice to tell a story that many a will not dare to tell to anyone.

As real as it gets

amazing

I loved it! Although the story is sad, it's well written. I couldn't stop listening to it.

The original is good, translation delightful

Listen to this book in Spanish if you can. My mother was a Mexican immigrant. I lived in Mexico for years, went to Mexican schools. The Spanish of the translation is a delight- colorful, authentic, literate. The reader makes the Spanish easy to understand.

I love it!!

I hate to think people criticized the author because she is not an immigrant. Immigrants that experienced all the things described in the book may not be able to write the book because is a traumatic experience. Also the author did her research and she is using her voice to speak for immigrants with no voice.
