About this listen

In a small Minnesota mining town, young Krissa is sheltered from her violent father by Danny, the brother she idolizes. Danny, a budding musician, is determined to escape with his sister in tow.

When the pair finally succeed, they meet Quinn, a privileged and wealthy college student. Drawn together by a passion for music, Danny and Quinn set up a successful pop group. As their stars begin to rise, Danny falls in love with fame, and Quinn and Krissa fall in love with each other. But the higher Danny, Quinn and Krissa climb, the faster their worlds crumble, until they part.

Sixteen years later their paths cross once again, three fallen stars. Danny is gravely ill. Quinn and Krissa are still in love. But to hear the music again, the three must face their joined pasts and use the lessons to create a better future.

Enjoyable with time

Trouble following going back and forth from 70's and 90's, and excerpts from articles. Once got going enjoyed the story.

Almost perfect

Excellent read. Difficult to put down. Only fault was the speed of the reader. I found it easier to increase to a 1.1 speed. Then it was perfect

This is a great book

Perhaps a bit of a “ chic flick” I could not put it down.
The story line is simply amazing. Kept my attention right till the last 5 minutes. The narrative is so good, I could see the characters.

The best of women's fiction

Seidel is one of my favorite writers and I am delighted some of her books are available on Audible. I wish they had been better produced. The reader is fine (I increased the tempo a bit) but there were mispronunciations the editor should have caught.

As for the novel, it's excellent. The time jumps from the 1970s to the 1990s were well done and build suspense and curiosity in what is only partially a love story. The characters are real, the background of 1970s rock music feels authentic, and the various family dynamics are finely delineated.

Five stars for a one of a kind listen

I wanted more! This is a beautiful well written story of two musicians trek to fame. The story digs deep into their relationship with the glue that held them together - The Cinnamon Hair girl. I love the well built character profile. The narration was Ok.
