About this listen

Years of trying unsuccessfully to conceive a child have broken more than Angie DeSaria’s heart. Following a painful divorce, she moves back to her small Pacific Northwest hometown and takes over management of her family’s restaurant. In West End, where life rises and falls like the tides, Angie’s fortunes will drastically change yet again when she meets and befriends a troubled young woman.

Angie hires Lauren Ribido because she sees something special in the seventeen-year-old. They quickly form a deep bond, and when Lauren is abandoned by her mother, Angie offers the girl a place to stay. But nothing could have prepared Angie for the far-reaching repercussions of this act of kindness. Together, these two women - one who longs for a child and the other who longs for a mother’s love - will be tested in ways that neither could have imagined.

Another Blockbuster

I forget how incredible her books are until I listen to another one.

What I love most about Hannah is her characters are so deep and rich,,,but mostly it is the way she can invoke really deep emotions with the fewest of words, A simple turn of phrase can really take you deep into the feelings of the character.

I kind of sensed the direction the book was headed so I wasn't totally surprised by the ending, That said, I really did not want this one to end,

The narration/performance of this book is outstanding. It is ten stars, not five. This is a MUST book if you are a Kristin Hannah fan!

Predictable but still a Good Read

Kristen Hanna can weave any story into an entertaining read. The story revolves around the challenges of a teenage pregnancy, a close family, and the heartbreaks along the way. Easy beach read…

Just Wonderful

I don't have any idea why there are so many negative reviews. This book was so full of heart. The family was beautiful, and the relationship between Angie and Lauren <3. The performance was great too. Kristin Hannah is such a wonderful writer.

Love In The Worst of Times

Great story. I loved it. Sometimes a parent isn't someone related by blood but by love in the heart.

Taddison

This book made me cry. Such a lovely story. Overuse of the word “young” but overall a great story.

Another hit!

I love Kristin Hannah and this book is another hit for me! I loved the story and the characters, and could hardly put it down! The narrator did an excellent job with the story. There was only one little bit more I would have loved to hear at the end, but still wasn't disappointed by Hannah!
