Publisher's summary

Molly Murphy Sullivan's husband, Daniel, a police captain in turn-of-the-century New York City, is in a precarious position. The new police commissioner wants him off the force altogether. So when Daniel's offered an assignment from John Wilkie, head of the Secret Service, he's eager to accept.

Molly can't draw any details of the assignment out of him, even where he'll be working. But when she spots him in San Francisco during a movie news segment, she starts to wonder if he's in even more danger than she had first believed. And then she receives a strange and cryptic letter from him, leading her to conclude that he wants her to join him in San Francisco. Molly knows that if Daniel's turning to her rather than John Wilkie or his contacts in the police force, something must have gone terribly wrong. What can she do for him that the police can't? Especially when she doesn't even know what his assignment is?

Embarking on a cross-country journey with her young son, Molly can't fathom what's in store for her, but she knows it might be dangerous - in fact, it might put all of their lives at risk.

narration is terrible

If you could sum up Time of Fog and Fire in three words, what would they be?

Love the story but could not understand a lot of narrations. I guess I will go back to paper books.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

yes

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

no

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

only to the narration - awful

Excellent author, charming series!

I love this series, a bit of mystery told with a splash of humor. The narration in top notch. I love Nicola Barber so well, I have searched out other series she has narrated. This series generally focuses on the characters and their lives, with the mystery being secondary, which is fine with me. I like a change and variety now and then from the nail biting thrillers. Also love the fact that they are historical...love a look into the past...should have been born in an earlier time:)

Imagining the 1906 San Francisco earthquake

This was one novel where the story actually became secondary to the setting. The descriptions of the great 1906 San Francisco earthquake and its aftermath were truly gripping. This was historical storytelling at its finest. This was also one of my favorite performances by Nicola Barber who absolutely nailed a variety of voices and accents.

Enchanting Tale

This was an excellent story - intrigue and un-expected turns. Would probably speaks more to the female gender - but enough intrigue for those who emjoy

Great and Fun Listen<br />

This Story was even more fun and more interestining than the ones before. The Molly Murphy mysteries are so uplifting and fun and entertaining that I hate to come to the end for awhile. I find other novellas boring to listen to and have trouble keeping from being depressed after the feeling of lightness of Molly Murphy. The ending here leaves me wanting more.

Fog and Fire

Classic Molly Murphy! I was afraid marriage and motherhood might make Molly uninteresting, so I was worried when Rhys had the storyline go that way. But I have to say this book lived up to the Irish heroine's colorful character! Loved it!

Fully engaging!

This is apparently part of a Molly Murphy series, but I didn’t know that when I purchased this book. Nor is it necessary to know the background of other books (if they exist) to follow this one.

After the first 10 chapters (which were really good) I was on the edge of my seat, not wanting to stop listening! Kudos to the narrator with the multiple voices and accents. It wasn’t perfect, but hey - who is perfect?! If there is a sequel I’ll be back.
