About this listen

Will a city girl and a small town boy find love in this David vs. Goliath story with a side of grits?

An engaging small town romance novel that will appeal to fans of Candis Terry's Sweet, Texas, Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor, and Ava Miles' Dare Valley.

Just a city girl, living in a lonely world.

Displaced Steel Magnolia Norah Burke doesn't know the meaning of failure. But when she threatens to blow the whistle on some shady business practices at her Chicago marketing firm, she gets fired fast as all get out. Licking her wounds, she heads back below the Mason-Dixon for a little homegrown Southern comfort.

Just a small town boy.

With his iron-clad Mississippi roots, Councilman Cam Crawford is a man who values tradition, preservation, and the love of a good dog. When a big box warehouse store tries to capitalize on his hometown's economic downturn, it seriously burns his biscuit. He's not about to let anyone's ambition destroy what he holds dear.

A David vs. Goliath story with a side of grits.

This unlikely pair just might be the perfect allies - in war and out. But as the battle to stop GrandGoods heats up and sparks of attraction turn to something more, will Norah's bigger-picture perspective go with Cam's "keep it as it is" attitude? Are they meant to be like biscuits and gravy? Or are they just as wrong as un-sweet tea?

The first step/book of an amazing series

I am a huge fan of Kait Nolan and this is the story that started it! To Get Me To You is the first in the Wishful series. It's tastefully told and sets the stage with an amazing cast of characters. This is one of those stories that will have you falling in love with not only the characters, but also the town where those characters live. Sweet southern charm slips from these pages giving a truly lovely dynamic to this tale.

love this story

I've never listened to an audio book before. I honestly wasn't sure what to think when I realized the whole book would be narrated in one female voice. I've read the book itself, so I knew the plot and everything, but I actually enjoyed it, the audio version! It took longer to get through, because I was more limited time wise (in the car, etc) as opposed to actually reading it, but I will definitily check out more audio books in the future (especially if they're Kait Nolan books)

I have fallen in love with Wishful

I have fallen in love with Wishful and all of the inhabitants. It's a living, breathing place to me, filled with people who are truly characters. I loved the level of detail that went into creating this little, southern and all the people that live there. I expect to drive south one day and meet Cam and Norah on the street with Hush and their 2.5 children in tow. This story is so sweet and funny. I can't wait to read more. The sweet southern charm of Amy McFadden's voice narrating made this an utter delight to listen to.

Charming and filled with hope

If you want to read a story that will make you feel good, this one will fill the bill perfectly. Who wouldn't love Nora, Cam, and the good people of Wishful? I certainly fell under their spell.

Nora, discovering that the marketing firm she works for kept ethics violations from her, draws a line and winds up getting fired for it. She heads down to Wishful, Mississippi to lick her wounds among friends and her "adopted" family and figure out what to do next, hoping her high-powered, successful parents don't find out she lost her job.

Cam is a landscape architect and runs Wishful's garden center. He's also on the city council and a cousin of Nora's college roommate. When he and Nora meet for the first time, sparks fly. When small town Wishful is threatened by the incursion of a big box store, Nora and Cam join forces to try to save the town and keep it warm and friendly and not let it lose the small town feel that they love..

Like the town, this book is charming. The writing is clear and brings the locale and characters to life. I felt like I came to know the characters, and, honestly, I kind of wish I could be part of some of the families in the book, friends with some of the characters . . . actually, most of the characters. it was truly a joy.

I listened to the audiobook version, and thought that narrator Amy McFaddden set the southern atmosphere and offered the perfect voices for the characters. This was such an easy, rewarding listen that I didnt' want it to end.

I received this book as a gift from the author. Opinions in this review express my honest reaction to the audiobook.

A Terrific Audiobook for a Great Story

I love romances set in the South, and love it even more when the author is from the region in which the book takes place. Indie author Kait Nolan does not disappoint with her authentic setting and her engaging cast of characters. I am always a little worried when listening to an audiobook version of a story I love but Amy McFadden brought the denizens of Wishful to life in an entertaining and authentic manner! As I listened to the story I felt I was right there with Nora and Campbell, witnessing their story all over again.

Wishful is a small Mississippi town, struggling under the weight of a broken economy. No one feels this weight more than councilman Campbell Crawford as he leads the charge to retain the small town charm that has defined Wishful for decades and boosting the town's flagging economy. Norah Burke is good in her marketing career in Chicago, very good, but when her morals and her company's less than ethical business practices collide, Norah finds herself in Wishful, needing the comfort and refuge that only her Southern roots can provide.

Romance sparks over midnight kisses, and the town heats up over the promise, and threat, of a big box store setting Wishful in its sights. If the corporate suits have their way, Cam and Norah know the things that make the town unique are the very things the town will lose to Big Business. Can Cam convince the town that there are better ways to boost the town's economy without losing the small town charm? And will high power executive Norah be willing to stay once the fight is over? You'll have to get the audiobook to see. I promise you will not be disappointed!

My first audio book

While I haven't quite finished the book, am in love with my first audio book!! I received this audiobook as an ARC, but the opinions in this review are my own! Am loving another story about wishful! I love Cam and Nora's story! I especially love Nora, having also been career oriented and not looking for love, but then finding it!! :) I wished I had heard Nora and Cam's story before Sandy's, but also loved that as well! Definitely looking forward to my next audio book! It's been great to listen to on my walks! I completely forget how far I'm walking because I've gotten absorbed in the story! Thanks again for another great story Kait Nolan!! <3

Review: To Get Me To You, by Kait Nolan

While I’ve been following Sarina Bowen’s work for a few years, what made me check out this book was her co-author. I’ve only had the pleasure of listening to Tanya Eby read other author’s books. This time, I got a taste of her writing. Bowen is a great author and along with Eby Man Hands was a great book to pick up.

The comedy in this book reminds me of Tara Sivec’s writing. They all are hilarious most of the time and don’t pull punches. Along with that, but characters are also sweet and a great fit for each other. I even ended up enjoying the reality show elements of the book, despite not enjoying them in the real world.

The only (minor) thing that brought the rating down for me was the pacing of the story. I felt it was a little on the speedy side. With how much I was enjoying the characters and their interactions, I felt the story as a whole was a little rushed. I think there was room to stretch it just a little more while not fluffing it up. Maybe there’ll be a novella with more of this couple to satisfy my needs. Even without that, there are more books in this series for me to read!

Mixing business with pleasure

Cam and Norah are two strong individuals. Can they work together to help Wishful? Can they make a permanent love connection or will outside forces pull Norah back to the city? Love this series.

Sexy southern charm!

I really enjoyed both the storyline and the narration of this audiobook and I think the combination of Kait Nolan's love of the south and Amy McFadden's excellently performed southern accent are absolutely divine. I enjoyed reading the book first and I have to admit that listening to it the second time around gave me a whole new appreciation for the rhythm of the south that shines throughout this wonderful production. I fell in love with the town of Wishful right from the start and I highly recommend this entire series, whether it be novel or audiobook, to fans of small town contemporary romance.
