About this listen

Brandy Jo Danner made up her mind in the third grade that someday, she was going to marry Dane Bronson. "Determined" doesn't begin to describe Brandy Jo.... "Sassy" would be more accurate.

Dane has wanted to ask Brandy Jo out for the past 14 years, but his shyness has kept him at bay. It appears two people could not be more different.

Dane begins every morning at The Branding Iron Grill with a bacon-and-cheese omelette, served up by head waitress Brandy Jo. When Dane finally works up the courage to ask her out, his rival, Hank Halverson, begins working behind the grill and gives Dane a run for his money.

A brawny, champion bull rider can be stiff competition for an unpretentious guy like Dane. After Brandy Jo tells Hank to "Save his butter for the biscuits", Hank turns up the heat.

Can Brandy Jo withstand the flames and hold to her heart's desire when bravado and humility go head-to-head?

Come spend some time in Silverdale, Colorado, a small Western town in the Rockies, where life is anything but dull.

Beautiful Story

I got this ARC via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. I enjoyed this story. The way the author wove the details together to create a story that showed how adversity could be overcome and a love that could last forever can happen in spite of adversity. The narration was good and made the story work.

Great Read

To Love A Cowboy was a great quick read by Renee Riva. Brandy has known since third grade that she would marry Dane. Unfortunately his shyness has kept him from asking her out. He finally asks her out but his rival Hank toys to get in the way. I loved reading Brandy and Dane's story.

Brandy Jo and Dane

To Love a Cowboy by Renee Riva is a refreshing listen. I enjoyed the characters in this sweet love story. The theme is classic, the characters are delightful, and the storyline is clean. Samuel Deeter was the perfect voice for this book. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I would definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Dane and Brandy Jo are Adorable

It is the classic love story of two childhood friends who secretly both love each other but never act on it. It is a very straightforward book, no crazy twists or turns, but I actually quite enjoyed that. It was just a simple, sweet, love story.
Even though you know where the story is going you are just rooting for these two the entire time.
I really enjoyed the rodeo/western backdrop of the story as well.
Samuel Deeter does a great job with the narration. It is very clear which character is talking based on his voice.

short

I thought it might have been better if a female narrator read the story see how it's mostly from a female's perspective.

Sweet Story

I received a free audiobook version of this story for an honest review.

This was a sweet, fast-paced, semi-religious type of story. While I'm not religious myself, I didn't feel like it was overly-religious or anything like that. There was a conflict between Hank and Dane, yet I didn't feel like it was enough for the story, or for any story in general. It just flowed in a this-is-a-small town, happy-go-lucky, everyone-likes-everyone-else vibe.

The narrator, while surprised that it was a man considering the protagonist was a female, he did a great job and made me think of the narrator Scott Bennett, who also does a great job with male/female voices and typically narrates stories taking place in the country.

Questions/Comments:

The biggest issue here for me was the fact Brandy Joe got mad at Dane because he didn't want to visit Hank after his accident. God forbid, two people don't like each other and, therefore, don't want to be forced into a fake interaction. Brandy Joe figured it was all related to their dislike for one another in the third grade, even if that were the case, Hank was a jerk to him and liked making fun of him. And it's not like Dane wanted him to die or anything.

I didn't understand Hank's and Brandy Joe's relationship though. They work together but she doesn't seem to like him. He constantly flirts with her while she talks down to him. She doesn't like him dating anyone she knows, yet was all eager to visit him in the hospital and talk to him about "breaking up" with Sarah. That didn't make sense to me.

Speaking of Brandy Joe getting mad at Hank for breaking up with Sarah, they'd only been on one kinda-sorta date and didn't even get through it considering Hank got injured. How did he "break-up" with her? They went a date, they weren't actually dating yet.

Then at the end, after saying they love each other, Dane tells Brandy Joe he wants to court her (what year is this taking place in?) and she seems surprised that he wants to date her exclusively.
